Ah, summer. What a time to enjoy video games. The Summer Game Fest is becoming a new firm point on the gaming calendar, bringing with it showcases of all the cool stuff various studios and publishers are preparing for us.
On June 4th, the SGF held a special showing of State of Play, a PlayStation-focused showcase featuring a whole bunch of games, some of which we’ve seen before, some of which we might have forgotten about, and maybe even some never shown to the public before, who knows.
Well, you will, just read on, as we take a look at…
Everything shown during the State of Play at the Summer Game Fest.
Pragmata
A new IP from Capcom? And it’s science fiction? Hell yeah. Pragmata looks like a buddy-protagonist game featuring an astronaut stranded in a hostile environment full of seemingly rampant robots. Thankfully, he’s not on his own, he’s helped by a young girl named, let’s check the notes… DI03367. Yes, the lass is a robot, or a cyborg… or a secret third thing, and she’s going to be helpfully hanging out with like a human-shaped backpack to aid us in combat and exploration through her hacking abilities.
Pragmata is coming in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam.
Romeo is a Dead Man
If you’re a gamer of experience and culture, you could just look at the first 30 second of the trailer below to know who has a hand in making this game. Yes, of course it’s Goichi Suda, AKA Suda51.
Romeo is a Dead Man is going to be an action game of spectacular ridiculousness, ridiculous spectacle, absurd humor, and that’s just the stuff from the trailer. If you’ve been craving something in the tone of No More Heroes, but with zombies and apparently a cyborg protagonist, this is it.
Romeo will be a dead man sometime in 2026, “maybe”, and will rampage all over PS5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam, Windows).
Silent Hill f
Silent Hill is back! And this time it appears to expand the series’ horrific reality beyond the foggy town. Silent Hill is set in the 1960s, in a town of Ebisugaoka. Its protagonist is a Japanese student, whose life suddenly became much more terrifying, as she’s stranded in a very haunted and monster-infested town. Hopefully the naginata she’s seen using in one of the scenes will be of help to her.
Silent Hill f is coming on September 25, 2025 for PS5 and PC (Steam, Windows, Epic)
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
The best not-Castlevania is back as well! Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement (not to be mistaken with the Red Wedding) will bring in the gorgeous 2.5D graphics, new heroes, and, of course, more exploration and exciting combat. There are many Metroidvania games out there, but only one successor to Castlevania itself.
The Scarlet Engagement begins in 2026 and comes to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam, and Epic).
Digimon Story Time Stranger
It’s been known for a long time that the longest-running (and genuinely distinct) competition to Pokémon is getting a new game, and Time Stranger is shaping up to be a romp. An epic story about the world being endangered, personal drama, and an impressive, if undeniably anime-looking, production value. The trailer is bombastic enough to suggest it should be worth wishlisting even if you know nothing of Digimon.
Digimon Story Time Stranger arrives on October 3, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles
The first remaster on the list, but in this instance it’s not a redo of a game half a decade old, this is stone-cold classic nearly thirty years old. The original Final Fantasy Tactics launched in 1997 and now it’s back with refreshed graphics, new content, full voice acting, and more. AND it will include the original game, if you want to check what it was like in 1997. Wild.
Final Fantasy Tactics returns on September 30, 2025 for PS4 & 5, Switch 1 & 2, Xbox Series, and Steam.
Baby Steps
Baby Steps is weird, but it stops being confusing when you see that Bennet Foddy, the man behind QWOP and Getting Over It is involved. Baby Steps features a man in a onesie taking his life one step at a time in a physics-driven comedic game.
Baby Steps comes on September 8 for PS5 and PC.
Hirogami
A shape-shifting action-adventure, powered by incredible creativity of origami. The player character will turn into various paper animals to conquer challenges ahead of them. Looks pretty sweet.
Hirogami will launch on September 3, 2025 for PS5 and Steam.
Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots
Everybody’s Golf is a series with nearly thirty years of history, and it’s definitely not done delivering fun, lighthearted golf sims to all parties interested. The latest in the series, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots got a fresh new trailer showing off features such as weather conditions, multiple courses and… Pac-Man.
Everybody’s Gold Hot Shot launches on September 5 for PS5, Steam, and Switch.
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
A new entry in the Ninja Gaiden series is a an old-school, side scrolling action game filled to the brim of combat and platforming. It also features two playable characters, Kenji and Kumori, representing different playstyles.
Ragebound launches on July 31, 2025 for PS4 & 5, Switch, Steam, and Xbox One & Series X/S.
Cairn
Cairn is a climbing-focused survival game about trying to get to the top of a picturesque, yet deadly, mountain. You will bet your life on your ropes, get blisters on your fingers, manage your gear, and figure out the best path upwards, whatever the weather.
Cairn arrives on November 5 for PS5 and PC, but you can already try the demo.
Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection
If you’ve been craving a way to play old Mortal Kombat games without the hassle of emulation and incompatibilities, you’re in luck. There is a collect… sorry, collection coming, gathering a whole bunch of old Mortal Kombats, including the original ones.
It arrives later this year for PS4 & 5, and Steam.
Official PlayStation fight stick
Yeah, sure, it’s not a game, but it’s a piece of info which might be of interest to fighting game fans worldwide. How it measures up to other fight sticks, nobody knows, but it does look pretty classy.
When will it be out? If anybody knows, they aren’t telling just yet.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
The upcoming remake of MGS3 got a new trailer showing off the stealth, the spectacles, and the weirdness, proving it’s still a proper Metal Gear game. It even includes the Ape Escape minigame.
MGS Delta launches on August 28 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam.
Nioh 3
Team Ninja has more ideas for the Nioh games, so we’re getting Nioh 3, with more demons to fight, a new story, and a new combat feature. The protagonist will have access to two combat styles, Samurai and Ninja, and the protagonist will be able to smoothly switch between them. The trailer also suggests the protagonist is a young Tokugawa Takechiyo, who would live on to be the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate.
Nioh 3 is planned for an early 2026 release, and to be available on PS5 and Steam.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow
Thief! A foundational stealth game series. It’s nice to see it still alive, although it is a curious choice to make it a VR title. Regardless, playing as a young thief trying to outmaneuver the guards and get the goodies is as good a premise as it’s ever been, and the trailer suggests she will cross paths with the legendary Garret.
Thief VR is coming later this year for PSVR 2.
Tides of Tomorrow
The developers of Road 96 showed us a bit more of their upcoming project, Tides of Tomorrow, a story-driven multiplayer game. It’s set on a world slowly dying after a calamitous flood. Now people live on scrap rafts, and the choices of other players might cause, or become, challenges you will need to overcome in your own playthrough. Though, to be fair, you can make such choices as well.
Tides of Tomorrow surge into your libraries on February 24, 2026 on PS5 and Steam.
Astrobot
The lovely platform game is getting updates! There will be 5 new challenge levels and new special bots to find, coming later in June. The Astrobot-themed PS5controller is also making appearance.
Sea Remnants
Are you up for a swashbuckling RPG adventure in a vibrant fantasy world? Sea Remnants is what you’re looking for. Starring a somewhat memory-addled puppet-like protagonist, it will have you sail the open seas, engage in fun swordfights, and interact will all kinds of fantastical creatures, friendly and hostile alike.
Sea Remnants will weigh anchor sometimes in 2026, and will find post on PS5 and Steam.
Sword of the Sea
A new game from the creator of Abzu, The Pathless and Journey! Explore a rich, vibrant world on your hover… surf… sword and find a way to restore an ocean to the world. You’ll also skate and surf to your heart’s content, building speed and pulling off tricks as you go about this atmospheric adventure.
Sword of the Sea launches on August 19, for PS5 (and will be available through PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra) and PC (Steam, Epic).
FBC: Firebreak
Remedy’s co-operative first-person shooter set in the world of Alan Wake and, especially, Control will also be available through PlayStation Plus at the Premium and Extra tiers, starting on June 17.
PS Plus: Deus Ex
The original Deus Ex is also coming to PS Plus, specifically to the Classics Catalog available at the premium tier. It will be available starting on June 17.
PS Plus: Twisted Metal 3 and TM4
In July, the Classics Catalog will get Twisted Metal 3 and 4, coming on July 15 for the Premium tier.
PS Plus: Resident Evil 2 and 3
And, finally, RE2 and 3 are also joining the Classics Catalog later in Summer 2025 on the Premium tier.
007 First Light
IO Interactive finally presented some bits about their upcoming game based on the James Bond license. After all, who would be better to make a game about a suave secret agent than the developers behind a series of an elegant assassin famous for his sharp suits and misbehaving tie? The game seems to be something of an origin story for 007, as his value for the agency is not yet obvious to everybody.
The game is coming in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC (Steam, Epic).
More info, including gameplay reveal: later this summer.
Ghost of Yōtei
There wasn’t much shown of Ghost of Yōtei, just a short trailer to announce a dedicated State of Play coming in July.
The game itself is coming on October 2, 2025, for now exclusively for PS5.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Team-ups are nothing new in the superhero genre, but it’s unlikely anybody could have expected a Marvel comics-themed game coming from Arc System Works. The makers of some of the best 2D and 2.5D fighting games on the market teamed up with Marvel and we got to see what this collab looks like.
It turns out it looks pretty awesome: the game will have 4v4 tag team battles, and ASW was able to put their own spin on character designs.
It’s coming to PS5 and PC in 2026.
A lot to play on your station.
So that about covers it, when it comes to the State of Play during the Summer Game Fest celebrations. Many of these games can already be wishlisted, some have demos, and all are worth checking out.
And, if you’re interested in giving them a try in the future, keep an eye on the offers on our marketplace, so you don’t miss a good deal.
