Capcom has revealed more about Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen in a new Q&A with director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama. The developers discussed how the expansion will change vocations, combat and difficulty, alongside major improvements coming to the base game.

Existing Vocations Get More Options

Dark Arisen will not introduce any new Vocations. Instead, every existing Vocation will receive new skills and higher-level versions of current abilities, encouraging players to reconsider established character builds.

Title Update 3.2 will also increase the number of equippable Weapon Skills from four to six when it arrives at the end of August.

Difficulty Will Increase Throughout the Expansion

The Lost Rites dungeons have a recommended starting level of 20, while Capcom recommends level 40 for the Forsaken Dominion. Both can be accessed earlier, but their difficulty will rise as players progress.

Kinoshita said later encounters are being balanced to challenge characters who have already reached the stat cap. A separate Hard Mode is also in development for experienced players, although Capcom has not announced its details or release window.

Performance, Saves and Dragonsplague Changes

The late-August update will include further engine optimization and smaller performance improvements across all platforms. Capcom is targeting 60 frames per second in Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, while the PC system requirements will be revised.

Save slots will increase from one to three. Each slot will contain separate Autosave, Interim Save and Last Inn Rest data, and loading an inn save will no longer delete the other two saves.

Dragonsplague will become easier to manage through the new Dragonsbaulk Draught, an item capable of curing an affected Pawn. Capcom also wants the system to communicate more clearly that the condition can temporarily improve a Pawn’s combat abilities, leaving players to decide whether to keep or remove it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches on October 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
