Maggie Robertson Joins the Cast

WARLOCK - Maggie Robertson as Tasha

Robertson is best known for playing Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village and Orin the Red in Baldur’s Gate 3. Her role in Warlock was announced during the Dungeons & Dragons keynote at Gen Con.

She joins Tricia Helfer, known for Battlestar Galactica and her performances as EDI in Mass Effect and Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft II. Helfer provides the voice and full performance capture for Kaatri, the game’s veteran-warrior protagonist.

What We Know About Warlock

Warlock is a third-person, single-player action-adventure set in a dark fantasy open world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. Kaatri forms a pact that allows her to wield forbidden magic against the threats she encounters.

Invoke says spells will play a role beyond combat, helping players explore the world, solve environmental challenges and uncover hidden paths. Battles will combine magic with melee attacks rather than directly recreating the rules or turn-based structure of tabletop D&D. The game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox in 2027.

Gameplay Reveal Planned for Gamescom

The project has so far been shown primarily through a cinematic teaser, but its first gameplay footage is now scheduled to debut at Gamescom. The event runs from August 26 to 30, 2026, in Cologne, following Opening Night Live on August 25. An exact date or showcase for the Warlock presentation has not yet been confirmed.

What to watch for at Gamescom

  • How Warlock handles magic in real-time combat
  • How melee attacks and spells flow together
  • Whether exploration spells are freeform tools or scripted puzzle keys
  • How Tasha appears as Kaatri’s patron
  • Whether the open world leans more toward action RPG, cinematic adventure or classic D&D questing

Why this casting matters

Robertson’s casting gives Warlock another recognizable voice-performance anchor, especially for players who remember her as Lady Dimitrescu or Orin the Red. That also matters thematically, because Tasha is not just a side character here. She is the source of Kaatri’s pact magic, which places her directly at the center of the game’s warlock fantasy.

That is the part to watch. Warlock is not trying to be Baldur’s Gate 3 with real-time movement. It is shaping up as a different kind of Dungeons & Dragons game: darker, more action-driven and focused on what it means to gain power through a pact that probably comes with strings attached.

If the gameplay reveal lands well at Gamescom, Warlock could become one of the more interesting D&D video game projects on the way to 2027.
