Since the first beta was a success, Capcom is blessing us with another, ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds’ full release on February 28th. Get ready to be flashed and poisoned.

The new open beta will play out over two weekends, and it will be the same build as the previous one, so don’t expect the performance improvements we should expect from the release build. However, it’s not going to be wholly without new stuff.

Indeed, it’s going to feature Gypceros, a monster returning to the mainline series after its absence from World and Rise. Gypceros typically offers the double threat of flashes and poison, and there’s nothing to suggest it won’t be the case in its return for Wilds.

But! Let’s talk about when you can play the beta!

There are actually two OBT2 periods (quoted from the official Monster Hunter website):

  • PT: Thursday, February 6th 2025 7:00pm – Sunday, February 9th, 2025 6:59 pm
  • PT: Thursday, February 13th, 2025 7:00 pm – Sunday, February 16th, 2025 6:59 pm

All you need to do to participate in the beta is navigate to MH Wilds’ page on Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox stores during the beta and install the game from there. It’s as easy as it gets, no weird hoops to jump through. The OBT takes about 25 GB of storage, so make sure you have enough free space on your platform of choice.
