Did you expect THQ Nordic to throw a showcase? We sure didn’t, but it’s happening anyway!
It will be streamed today, August 7th, at 12:00 PM PDT/21:00 CEST, available on the publisher’s website as well as the YouTube and Twitch channels.
What can we expect? It’s uncertain. The pre-show reel goes through trailers for various games, some of which, like Gothic Remake, are already known and/or out. The comments on YouTube have two very specific wishes, however: Gothic 2 Remake and Darksiders 4.
Both are extremely reasonable.
Gothic Remake was a quick niche hit, despite being a game faithfully made in the image of a quarter-century old RPG that’s always been known for being clunky. We loved the Remake here (okay, I loved it), and it’s nice to see there is still market for games like these. Following it up with a remake of the even better sequel would be a natural course of action. Come on, THQ Nordic, let me see Khorinis 2.0!

As for the other wish, I am also in full agreement. A year ago we were shown a teaser for Darksiders 4, a long, long awaited sequel to a series that’s always struggled to get another installment out. And since then… silence. There is a Steam page for it, sure, but no new news, no nothing. Today’s showcase sounds like a perfect opportunity to show what’s happening with it. As a fan of the original Darksiders (much less the follow-ups) I’ve been waiting for a long time for the promise of that game’s ending to come to fruition.
We are still 10-ish hours away for the stream at the time of posting, and it might very well be worth waiting for.
