The sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s phenomenal crafting-survival game Grounded 2 debuts today, allowing players worldwide to enjoy the ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’-like adventure.

Although the game isn’t officially complete yet, the developer promises to release a new update every five months. Sounds reasonable! That leaves just one question: will Xbox Game Pass subscribers have access to this release as part of their subscription?

Grounded 2 – Will it be on Game Pass?

Good news – the sequel to Grounded is available starting today, July 29, on PC and Xbox Series X/S. That means it’s also on PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Subscribers can play the game’s preview version via the Microsoft Store or its early access release on Steam.

And although the official release date is not yet known, Obsidian Entertainment promises regular updates. As director Chris Parker shared with GamesRadar, “When we started with Grounded 1 in early access, we were trying to do almost monthly updates. That was a hassle, and it didn’t work. It didn’t make the community happy, and it didn’t make the team happy. So we are looking at longer, meatier updates that are in the four to five month range.”

There’s plenty to look forward to. And with the game launching today as part of a subscription, players can actively participate in its evolution toward a full release!
