Rumor has it that Bethesda’s MachineGames is working on expanding its Wolfenstein franchise. Here’s what we know so far.

TL;DR

Wolfenstein 3 rumors — two outlets say it’s real, but Bethesda hasn’t announced anything yet

Multiple reports claim Wolfenstein 3 is in development at MachineGames. It’s not official yet (no trailer/date), but the rumor stack is stronger than usual: two separate sources say they’ve confirmed it.

What’s being rumored

  • Windows Central (Jez Corden) says Wolfenstein 3 is planned and may tie in with the upcoming Wolfenstein Amazon TV show.
  • Kotaku says it independently confirmed Wolfenstein 3 is in development.

Why fans think it makes sense

  • MachineGames leadership has previously described Wolfenstein as a planned trilogy and suggested there’s still story left to tell (per the article’s mention of a Noclip documentary).
  • With MachineGames having wrapped major work (as stated in the article), fans expect the studio can fully commit to its next big project.

What we do NOT know (yet)

  • No official Bethesda confirmation: no reveal, no release date, no platforms, no gameplay.
  • Story specifics are unknown (including whether it’s set before/after Youngblood).

When a reveal could happen

  • Keep an eye on big Bethesda/Xbox moments mentioned in the article, like QuakeCon and the Xbox Showcase.
  • The article also points to Bethesda’s 40th anniversary in June as a potential announcement window.

Community reaction in one sentence

  • Cautious optimism: excitement for a proper B.J. Blazkowicz-style finale, but concern after mixed reactions to Youngblood and Cyberpilot.

Important tips: Treat this as a high-confidence rumor, not a confirmed game — but with both Kotaku and Windows Central reporting it, a reveal at a major Bethesda/Xbox event feels like the next logical step.

It was brought up by two credible sources that Wolfenstein 3 is, indeed, being made as we speak.

Wolfenstein 3 in the Making – Is it True?

The first one is Jez Corden at Windows Central, who claims to have heard that Wolfenstein 3 is planned to coincide with the upcoming Wolfenstein Amazon TV show.

The second one is Kotaku, which confirmed it’s true from their own sources.

This would also align with what people at MachineGames have said here and there. For example, studio director, Jerk Gustafsson, mentioned back in September 2025 in a documentary by Noclip that the company had planned Wolfenstein as a trilogy from the very beginning. He said he’d want to continue working on that project as they still have a story to tell.

Even though you can’t take it as an official announcement, at least it gave us an idea about MachineGames’ stance on the matter.

As of now, very little is known about the game itself, and there’s no word from Bethesda yet, but since MachineGames has finished working on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and is done helping out with Doom: Legacy of Rust, they should be able to fully commit to a new project.

Wolfenstein 3 May Be Revealed Soon

As of now, Bethesda hasn’t released any official statements regarding Wolfenstein 3. No announcements, no dates, no trailers, no current state or progress made so far. We don’t know anything besides the rumors stating that the game is in production. We can only guess the general idea based on the sequel’s ending; for example, we can expect a wrap-up and conclusion on Blazkowicz’s ongoing story of fighting the Nazi army, but we can’t make any reliable guesses on the exact setting and whether the game will take place before or after the spin-off, Youngblood.

With that being said, if you’re interested in more details about the new Wolfenstein game, you should follow the upcoming gaming events, especially Bethesda’s Quakecon and Xbox Showcase, as that’s where we’re most likely to get more info about it.

Let’s also not forget that Bethesda will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this June, making it a perfect time to announce Wolfenstein 3. On a side note, it’s possible that we’ll be getting more details on The Elder Scrolls 6, too.

Community Reactions to Wolfenstein 3 Rumors

Players remain cautiously optimistic. Even though the idea of a brand-new adventure that could possibly involve B.J. Blazkowicz sparks joy, Wolfenstein fans still remember the not-so-great spin-off of the series, Youngblood, and the VR-exclusive Cyberpilot, which disappointed a lot of players.

Youngblood, in particular, left a bad taste in people’s mouths as it doesn’t even feel like a proper Wolfenstein game. Following the story of Blazkowicz’s teenage daughters as they’re looking for him in France, the game is filled with excessively long cutscenes, bullet sponge enemies, overtuned respawn mechanics, repetitive missions, and the unnecessary leveling system that doesn’t fit the franchise. It’s also more tailored towards co-op play with a friend.

Players in general are hoping that the new game won’t go too far in adding new, experimental features just for the sake of novelty. They just want a simple, proper FPS game that allows you to fight against the nazis in a similar fashion that the old Wolfenstein games did. This simple formula has worked so many times in the past – there’s no need to overcomplicate things. The old stuff was great, give us more of that.

Fingers crossed for Wolfenstein 3 to be at least just as good as The New Order and The New Colossus of this yet-to-be-announced trilogy.

Conclusion

We don’t know much about the highly anticipated Wolfenstein 3 yet, but if the rumors are true, it’s just a matter of time until we get more info. At this point, it’s very likely that the game will be made, but until we get the official announcement, all we can do is wait.
