This year’s February release XCOM 2 from Firaxis had modding support as one of its key features. Since release over 2000 modifications have been created by the community, ranging from new cosmetic items, to voice packs, to changes to gameplay.
One of such changes is the mod released on 3 November 2016 implementing a cooperative mode into a distinctly single player, or competitively multiplayer, game.
Created by Team Dragonpunk, the mod allows you to invite another player to your game during the mission prep phase. The invited player will come with their own soldiers, which will retain all experience and loot they’ve collected during the mission. The modification is available via the Steam Workshop.
XCOM 2 is a sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It places the player as the Commander of an underground resistance fighting against the aliens that conquered the Earth and have ruled it openly for the past twenty years. The game has been recently released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, nearly ten months after the PC release.
