Players in the co-op climbing game Peak can now eat their friends if starvation hits too hard. Yes, really.

As if co-op survival in the Peak game wasn’t challenging enough, the latest patch introduces cannibalism, meaning you can now eat your friends to fill up your stamina meter. While most players are thrilled about this change, some player reactions express concerns about the new health system. Let’s see what all the fuss is about!

Peak’s Cannibalism Update: You Can Now Eat Your Friends to Survive

In early July, Aggrocrab (developer of Peak) posted on X that, “guys, we can’t add cannibalism to PEAK.”

Well, surprise, because the cannibalism update has just gone live! As the developer announced on Steam, “Hey guys! Totally normal update to the game. Nothing to see here,” followed by “Added cannibalism.” As a result, players of this thrilling climbing survival game can now eat their friends if their hunger meter gets too low. Worse still, that’s the moment they start to perceive other players as delicious rotisserie chickens!

From now on, such a hungry player can interact with their friends and eat them alive, killing them and making them drop all their gear. What’s more, this action restores all the stamina of the character who ate the other player. Lovely, right? Well, not exactly, because the dead character now becomes a ghost haunting their ex-friend for the rest of the adventure. Is such a sacrifice worth it? We’ll let your hunger and morals decide!

Understandably, players disagree on whether this new change is a good thing. On the one hand, those craving more mayhem in their favorite co-op game welcome this update with open arms. On the other hand, many fans fear their friends will use cannibalism as troll mechanics.

As one player on r/PeakGame shares, “I don’t care what anyone says, this was an awesome addition. Although maybe it would be better to increase the level of hunger that triggers it lol.”

Players on TikTok and Reddit are also suggesting that a better solution would be to make cannibalism take only a small portion of a player’s life instead of killing them entirely. Will Aggrocrab respond to these suggestions? Only time will tell, but most of the fanbase is raving about the new update. In the end, the game didn’t sell 5 million copies without a reason, as its chaotic gameplay, satirical developer posts, and most absurd mechanics make it so popular.
