Nintendo Switch 2 third-party support has become one of the most interesting parts of the console’s story.

Cyberpunk 2077 was there on launch day. Resident Evil Requiem, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fallout 4, Hades II, Indiana Jones and plenty more followed. Elden Ring, Call of Duty, The Duskbloods and another wave of major releases are still ahead.

This living guide tracks the biggest third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games, including titles available now, upcoming releases with confirmed dates, announced games still waiting for a firm launch, backward-compatible releases and ports that remain unconfirmed rumors.

Why third-party support matters more on Switch 2

The original Nintendo Switch had no shortage of excellent games, but owners became used to asking the same question whenever a major multiplatform release was announced: will this actually come to Switch?

Sometimes the answer was yes. Sometimes it arrived years later. Sometimes it required cloud streaming. And plenty of games simply never appeared.

Switch 2 changed the tone almost immediately.

Its launch included Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Split Fiction, Street Fighter 6, Civilization VII, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman: World of Assassination, Sonic X Shadow Generations and several other major games from outside Nintendo.

That momentum continued. EA brought Madden back to Nintendo hardware. Supergiant launched Hades II. Square Enix committed heavily to Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Bethesda brought Indiana Jones, Fallout and Oblivion. Capcom has Resident Evil, Onimusha, Dragon’s Dogma and more. FromSoftware is bringing both Elden Ring and an entirely new Switch 2 exclusive.

For another snapshot of that strategy, check our Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase February 2026 breakdown and our earlier July 2025 Partner Showcase recap.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition

AVAILABLE NOW

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition - Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Trailer

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was arguably the Switch 2 launch lineup’s biggest technical statement.

Night City, the complete base campaign and Phantom Liberty all arrived together instead of Nintendo players receiving a reduced edition.

The port also uses Switch 2-specific features including gyro aiming, touch controls and Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality. It showed from day one that technically ambitious AAA ports were part of the plan.

Split Fiction

AVAILABLE NOW

SPLIT FICTION - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Hazelight’s co-op adventure also arrived on launch day.

Split Fiction moves between fantasy and science-fiction scenarios constantly, with its entire campaign designed around two-player cooperation.

Friend’s Pass and cross-play make the Switch 2 version especially useful for players whose co-op partner owns another platform.

WILD HEARTS S

AVAILABLE NOW

WILD HEARTS S - Announcement Trailer

WILD HEARTS S brings Omega Force’s monster-hunting formula to Switch 2 with its defining Karakuri construction system intact.

Hunters can build traps, crates, gliders and larger mechanisms during combat instead of relying only on weapons and positioning.

The S edition also expands multiplayer to teams of four, making it a natural option for anyone who wants a Monster Hunter-style progression loop with a different combat rhythm.

Madden NFL 26

AVAILABLE NOW

EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26 - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Madden NFL 26 marked the first Madden release built for Nintendo hardware in years.

EA brought the full current-generation football package to Switch 2 rather than a legacy edition built around old systems.

Franchise, Superstar and the new AI-driven player and coaching behaviors all made the jump, making Madden another useful test of whether Nintendo can remain part of EA’s annual sports release schedule.

STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar

AVAILABLE NOW

STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Grand Bazaar reimagines the Nintendo DS-era farming game around rebuilding Zephyr Town’s weekly market. The Switch 2 Edition improves resolution and frame rate while adding Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

It is not the sort of port that wins technical comparison videos, but it illustrates another important side of third-party support: franchises strongly associated with handheld Nintendo systems are sticking around too.

Hades II

AVAILABLE NOW

Hades II - v1.0 Launch Trailer

Hades II reached version 1.0 on Switch 2, Switch and PC on September 25, 2025. The Switch 2 version can run at up to 120fps in TV mode at 1080p, while handheld play targets 60fps.

That made Supergiant’s sequel both a major independent release and a good demonstration of Switch 2’s ability to deliver high-refresh portable gameplay.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

AVAILABLE NOW

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Square Enix rebuilt the first two Dragon Quest games in the same HD-2D style used for Dragon Quest III. Both adventures are included in one package, with new scenarios and additional content expanding the original stories.

Switch 2 also gets improved graphical specifications compared with the original Switch release.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion - Release Date Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Tribute Games and Dotemu followed TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge with another pixel-art beat ’em up, this time pulling from the Marvel universe.

Resident Evil Requiem - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Resident Evil Requiem is exactly the kind of release that matters when evaluating third-party support.

This was not a remaster rescued from an older generation. It was a current mainline Resident Evil release appearing on Nintendo hardware.

Capcom’s survival horror game combines Grace Ashcroft’s more vulnerable horror-focused sections with Leon S. Kennedy’s action-heavy gameplay.

Atelier Yumia - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Trailer

The Switch 2 Edition improves resolution, frame rate and loading times while adding local GameShare functionality.

It is a dedicated enhancement rather than simple backward compatibility, making it a useful example of how Japanese publishers are updating existing Switch-era releases for the newer hardware.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

AVAILABLE NOW

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales - Launch Date Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Team Asano takes the HD-2D visual style associated with Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest into real-time action RPG territory. Elliot fights directly rather than waiting for turns, while his fairy companion Faie helps with exploration and puzzle solving.

The game also travels across multiple eras, giving Square Enix another large RPG presence on Switch 2 beyond Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

AVAILABLE NOW

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH - Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Trailer

Rebirth followed Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade onto Switch 2 and represents a much tougher technical target.

The sequel is considerably larger, with open regions, seamless exploration, large battles and much more environmental detail.

Square Enix now has the first two parts of the FFVII remake trilogy on Nintendo hardware, with Revelation already confirmed for Switch 2 as well.

Don’t Miss These Games on Nintendo Switch 2

The Switch 2 library is already much bigger than the headline releases alone suggest.

If you are looking for more third-party games worth adding to your backlog, these are some of the strongest RPGs, action games, open-world adventures, shooters, and modern classics you can play on Nintendo’s newer hardware right now.

Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws - Nintendo Switch 2 Developer Featurette

Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars adventure puts players in the boots of scoundrel Kay Vess as she moves between criminal syndicates, distant planets, cantinas, Imperial territory, and space battles.

The Switch 2 version adds features such as gyro-assisted aiming, touch controls, and hardware-specific optimizations, making it one of the more ambitious open-world ports on the system.

DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined

AVAILABLE NOW
NATIVE SWITCH 2 VERSION

DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Square Enix reworks the massive seventh Dragon Quest adventure with a new diorama-inspired visual style, modernized mechanics, and a streamlined version of the famously enormous original story.

The time-traveling structure still sends the party into lost regions from the past, making it an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a traditional JRPG that can keep a handheld busy for a very long time.

DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS

AVAILABLE NOW
NATIVE SWITCH 2 VERSION

DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS - Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2

Origins pushes the familiar Musou formula toward much larger and denser battlefields, putting a nameless protagonist in the middle of the Three Kingdoms conflict.

Fighting through enormous formations while coordinating with allied officers makes it one of the better showcases for players who want pure large-scale action rather than another open-world RPG.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

AVAILABLE NOW
NATIVE SWITCH 2 VERSION

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

MachineGames mixes first-person exploration, puzzles, stealth, brawling, and globe-trotting adventure in a story set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.

The whip doubles as a weapon and traversal tool, while larger environments reward curiosity rather than simply pushing Indy from one action sequence to the next.

No Man’s Sky – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

AVAILABLE NOW
SWITCH 2 EDITION

No Man's Sky Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Beacon Update Trailer

The Switch 2 Edition turns Hello Games’ already impressive portable conversion into a much more complete version of No Man’s Sky.

Higher-resolution visuals, improved performance, multiplayer, settlements, cross-play, and touch controls make this the version Nintendo players originally hoped the game could become.

Red Dead Redemption: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

AVAILABLE NOW
SWITCH 2 EDITION

Red Dead Redemption - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

John Marston’s western adventure gets a much more fitting home on Switch 2, with smoother performance and a sharper presentation than the original Switch release.

Undead Nightmare is included too, so the package covers both Rockstar’s classic open-world western and its excellent zombie-horror expansion.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut

AVAILABLE NOW
NATIVE SWITCH 2 VERSION

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut - Overview Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Yakuza 0 remains one of the easiest entry points into the Like a Dragon series, following younger versions of Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima through the criminal underworld of 1988 Japan.

Director’s Cut adds extra scenes, an English dub, and the Red Light Raid online multiplayer mode on top of an already excellent crime drama.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

AVAILABLE NOW
SWITCH 2 EDITION

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Launch Trailer

Before Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian built one of the most flexible modern CRPGs with Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Its reactive quests, elemental combat systems, huge number of viable character builds, and four-player multiplayer make it an especially good fit for players who want an RPG where experimenting with ridiculous ideas is often encouraged.

Persona 3 Reload

AVAILABLE NOW
NATIVE SWITCH 2 VERSION

Persona 3 Reload - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

Persona 3 Reload rebuilds Atlus’ darker school-life RPG with modern visuals, new voice work, quality-of-life improvements, and the polished combat presentation introduced by later Persona games.

Days revolve around school and relationships, while nights lead into Tartarus and strategic turn-based battles against Shadows.

Resident Evil 2

AVAILABLE NOW
CLOUD VERSION

Resident Evil Cloud Versions - Nintendo Switch

Resident Evil 2’s remake remains one of Capcom’s strongest modern survival-horror games, rebuilding Raccoon City Police Department around tense exploration, limited resources, puzzles, and the relentless presence of Mr. X.

On Nintendo hardware, the currently available version is still the older cloud-streaming release rather than the rumored native Switch 2 port.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

AVAILABLE NOW
BACKWARD COMPATIBLE

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch

The Lost Crown is one of Ubisoft’s best modern action games, mixing Metroidvania exploration with fast platforming, parries, air combos, time powers, and demanding boss battles.

It is technically the original Switch release running through Switch 2 compatibility rather than a dedicated Switch 2 Edition, but it remains an excellent portable fit.

Diablo II: Resurrected

AVAILABLE NOW
BACKWARD COMPATIBLE

Diablo II: Resurrected - Nintendo Switch Trailer

Diablo II: Resurrected remains one of the foundations of the action RPG genre, pairing randomized loot, character builds, difficulty progression, and endlessly repeatable dungeon crawling with modernized visuals.

The original Switch release is compatible with Switch 2, although it does not currently have a dedicated native Switch 2 Edition.

What about Resident Evil 4 Remake?

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Release Date, Latest News & Leaks | EarlyGame

The 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake is not currently available as an official Nintendo Switch 2 release.

Reports continue to claim that Capcom is working on Switch 2 versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, but until Capcom announces them, Resident Evil 4 Remake belongs in the rumor section rather than under AVAILABLE NOW.

It is also one of the ports players will watch most closely from a technical perspective. Elden Ring’s open world, streaming demands and large boss encounters make it a much tougher target than a typical cross-generation release.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 4 | Nintendo Switch 2 games | Games | Nintendo UK

Call of Duty returning to Nintendo hardware matters well beyond Modern Warfare 4 itself.

Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are another particularly interesting addition for players who want something closer to PC-style aiming without leaving handheld hardware behind.

The Duskbloods

SWITCH 2 EXCLUSIVE

The Duskbloods - Nintendo Switch 2

The Duskbloods is more important than another good port because it is not a port at all.

FromSoftware is building a completely new multiplayer action game exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

Up to eight Bloodsworn enter matches involving PvP, PvE encounters, temporary alliances and individual objectives. Recent hands-on testing has made it one of the more fascinating wildcards in the Switch 2 catalog.

007 First Light

SWITCH 2 DATE TBA

007 First Light - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2

IO Interactive’s James Bond origin story launched on other platforms in May 2026, while the Switch 2 version is scheduled separately for summer.

Nintendo’s store still lists the exact release date as TBD.

The game follows a younger Bond during his path into the Double 0 program, combining stealth, gadgets, driving, social manipulation and Hitman-style flexibility.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

SPRING 2027

FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION - Reveal Trailer

The final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy will launch simultaneously on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

That simultaneous release is arguably more significant than another late port.

Cloud and the full party gain access to the Highwind, opening the world on a planetary scale as the trilogy heads toward its final confrontation with Sephiroth.

Resident Evil Veronica

NOT FORMALLY CONFIRMED

A new Resident Evil Code: Veronica project continues to circulate in reports and release lists, but it should not be treated like Resident Evil Requiem until Capcom formally confirms the game and its Switch 2 version.

For now, it belongs on the watchlist rather than the confirmed schedule.

What happened to Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2?

ANNOUNCED, THEN DELAYED

Borderlands 4 - Official Nintendo Switch 2 Trailer

Borderlands 4 is not an ordinary rumor. Gearbox and 2K officially announced the Switch 2 version and originally planned to release it in 2025. That edition was later delayed and its original launch plan was abandoned.

Until Gearbox provides a fresh roadmap, Borderlands 4 belongs in its own category between confirmed and upcoming. The port exists as an announced project, but there is no reliable active release date to put on a calendar.

Rumored Nintendo Switch 2 ports

This is the section where wording matters most. None of the games below should be treated as Switch 2 releases until Nintendo or the relevant publisher says so.

GameStatusWhy it keeps coming up
Assassin’s Creed MirageUnconfirmedAssassin’s Creed Shadows has already established Ubisoft’s current-gen Assassin’s Creed tech on Switch 2.
Diablo IVRumoredMicrosoft and Blizzard’s changing multiplatform strategy makes a port plausible.
StarfieldRumoredBethesda has already committed heavily to Switch 2 with Fallout, Oblivion and Indiana Jones.
Halo: The Master Chief CollectionRumoredMicrosoft is increasingly comfortable placing former Xbox exclusives elsewhere.
Sea of ThievesRumoredIts persistent co-op structure would fit Nintendo’s portable system well.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake EaterRumoredKonami is already supporting Switch 2 with Metal Gear collections, but Delta itself remains unconfirmed.

Two additional games frequently mentioned in Switch 2 discussions are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Black Myth: Wukong.

Neither is official yet. You can follow the separate reports in our Clair Obscur Switch 2 report and Black Myth: Wukong Switch 2 report.

The Witcher 3 and backward compatibility

BACKWARD COMPATIBLE

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Nintendo Switch Trailer

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can be played on Switch 2 through compatibility with the original Switch release.

That is different from having a dedicated native Switch 2 Edition.

This is worth keeping separate because otherwise Switch 2 release lists become misleading very quickly. A game working on the console is not automatically the same thing as receiving a dedicated port with new technical targets or hardware-specific features.

Check The Witcher 3 offers on G2A.COM

Why this lineup feels different from the original Switch

The strongest argument for Switch 2’s third-party support is not simply the number of games.

It is the type of games arriving and the timing.

Cyberpunk 2077 was there at launch. Resident Evil Requiem arrived as a current mainline Resident Evil. Madden NFL 26 brought a major annual EA Sports franchise back. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is planned to launch on Switch 2 at the same time as PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Call of Duty is returning. FromSoftware is bringing both Elden Ring and a Nintendo-exclusive new project.

There are smaller signs too. Story of Seasons gets dedicated Switch 2 enhancements. Atelier Yumia receives a proper Edition upgrade. Two Point Museum reaches the platform. Danganronpa, Professor Layton, Turok and Inazuma Eleven are all present.

This is not a platform surviving between Mario and Zelda releases. Outside publishers are becoming part of the calendar itself.

Switch 2 is no longer waiting for Nintendo to carry the entire year

The most important thing about this lineup is not Cyberpunk, Final Fantasy, Madden or Resident Evil individually. It is that they are all part of the same platform story.

CD PROJEKT RED showed up on launch day. Supergiant used Switch 2 as one of Hades II’s version 1.0 platforms. EA brought Madden back. Square Enix is treating the system as part of its broader multiplatform strategy. Bethesda has already supplied several major games. Activision is bringing Call of Duty back. FromSoftware is developing an exclusive.

There will still be missing releases. Some ports will arrive late. Others will never make it. And rumor lists will continue filling up every time Microsoft, Capcom or Ubisoft announces something new.

But Switch 2 has already reached a point where asking whether a big third-party game could come to Nintendo no longer sounds unrealistic.

The next question is simply which publisher joins the list next.
