LEGO Harry Potter Collection launches on Switch 2 on October 16
LEGO Harry Potter Collection will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026 for $49.99.
The announcement was made as part of the 2026 Back to Hogwarts celebrations, and preorders are already open.
The collection will be available both digitally and physically. The physical release uses Nintendo’s Game-Key Card format rather than a traditional cartridge containing the full game data.
The Switch 2 port is being handled by Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, while the original LEGO Harry Potter titles were developed by TT Games.
What is included in LEGO Harry Potter Collection?
Despite occasionally being described as containing “seven games,” the package actually contains two remastered games covering Harry’s seven years at Hogwarts:

- LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7
Together, they retell the story of all eight Harry Potter films in the familiar LEGO style, complete with brick-breaking, collectibles, spell-based puzzles, character switching, slapstick humor, and local co-op.
The collection also includes the previously released Character Pack and Spell Pack.
The Character Pack adds 10 characters, including Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, Peeves, and Luna in her lion-head outfit. The Spell Pack adds Cantis, Densaugeo, Ducklifors, Melofors, and Tentaclifors.
What is LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4?
Years 1-4 covers the beginning of Harry’s story, from his arrival in the wizarding world through the events of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
You visit Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade, and other recognizable locations while learning spells, brewing potions, collecting characters, solving environmental puzzles, and smashing a frankly irresponsible amount of Hogwarts into collectible studs.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a huge supporting cast become playable as you progress, with different characters and spells opening previously inaccessible areas.
It is classic TT Games design: approachable enough for younger players, but absolutely packed with collectibles for anyone determined to reach 100 percent completion.
What changes in LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7?
Years 5-7 moves into the darker second half of Harry’s story, covering Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and both Deathly Hallows films.
The environments expand to include places such as Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, and Godric’s Hollow, while the spell roster grows alongside the escalating conflict with Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
There are more advanced duels, new charms, over 100 unlockable characters, and even the Unforgivable Curses for characters capable of using them.
It is still unmistakably a LEGO comedy, but it has to work considerably harder to make the final Harry Potter movies funny. Somehow, it manages.
Yes, LEGO Harry Potter Collection still has local co-op
One of the best reasons to revisit these games remains their multiplayer.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports two players on a single system, including the familiar drop-in/drop-out co-op structure.
Instead of forcing both players to remain glued to one corner of the screen, the games can use dynamic split screen when the characters move far enough apart.
That makes the collection particularly easy to recommend as a family game or something to play with a partner who does not necessarily spend every evening studying build guides and frame-time graphs.
What is improved in the Nintendo Switch 2 version?
Warner Bros. describes LEGO Harry Potter Collection as a remastered compilation with enhanced graphics, more detailed environments, improved lighting, and additional visual effects.
However, there is an important detail: specific Nintendo Switch 2 resolution and frame-rate targets have not yet been detailed on the official Nintendo listing.
The remastered PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC release from 2024 included features such as 60 FPS and native 4K on supported hardware, but that does not automatically mean the Switch 2 version will use identical settings.
Until Warner Bros. provides Switch 2-specific technical information, it is better not to turn “remastered” into an imaginary performance specification.
The official Nintendo Store currently lists an estimated 13.7 GB file size.
The physical Switch 2 edition is a Game-Key Card
Collectors should pay attention to the wording on the physical release.
LEGO Harry Potter Collection will ship on a Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card.
A Game-Key Card does not contain the complete game data. Instead, inserting the card allows the Switch 2 to download the software from the internet.
You will therefore need an internet connection and enough free storage space for the initial download. Once the game is installed, the card must still be inserted whenever you want to play, much like a normal physical cartridge.
Physical does not mean full game on cartridge: the Switch 2 box contains a Game-Key Card that unlocks the download. Keep that in mind if you prefer physical releases specifically to avoid large downloads.

You do not need to wait for the Switch 2 version if platform portability is not essential. The remastered collection is already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
