September 2026 Is Absolutely Stacked for Nintendo Switch 2

September 2026 is shaping up to be one of the busiest Nintendo Switch 2 months yet.

The calendar stretches from Team NINJA’s Wo Long and Capcom’s new Onimusha to Fire Emblem, LEGO Batman, Dragon Quest, Minecraft Dungeons II and a native remaster of The Witcher 3.

There are also plenty of smaller surprises in between, including Mewgenics, Orbitals, three different Trails releases and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Here is everything currently confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 in September, plus one very interesting Diablo IV rumor that still needs an official announcement.

Team NINJA’s dark Three Kingdoms action RPG finally reaches Nintendo with the entire package included.

The Complete Edition combines the base game with Battle of Zhongyuan, Conqueror of Jiangdong and Upheaval in Jingxiang, plus additional weapons, characters, Divine Beasts and endgame content.

Wo Long’s combat is built heavily around deflection timing and aggressive swordplay, making it a natural recommendation for players who enjoy Sekiro-style pressure but want more RPG systems underneath it.

Orbitals is one of the month’s more interesting exclusives. Maki and Omura are two explorers trying to save their collapsing space station, and the entire adventure is designed around two-player cooperation.

The presentation deliberately channels classic Japanese anime, while the puzzles use each character’s unique tools and asymmetric abilities. Local split-screen, online co-op, GameShare and a Global Friend’s Pass mean only one player needs the full game for two people to go through the adventure together.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword moved forward from its original late-September date and now arrives near the beginning of the month.

Miyamoto Musashi battles Genma across a supernatural version of Edo-period Kyoto using the Oni Gauntlet to absorb souls and fuel powerful abilities. Capcom is putting a much stronger emphasis on close-range sword clashes, deflections and brutal finishing attacks than on the survival-horror elements of the earliest Onimusha games.

Mewgenics comes from Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel and combines turn-based tactical combat with roguelite progression and a frankly worrying amount of cat breeding.

You build generations of cats with different genetics, assign classes, collect equipment and send your increasingly strange feline army into tactical encounters. Success builds your household. Failure becomes part of the bloodline.

After making a big impression on PC earlier in 2026, the portable Switch 2 version feels like an especially natural home for its run-based structure.

SEPTEMBER 10

The entire Crossbell arc gets dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 releases on the same day. Trails from Zero introduces Lloyd Bannings and the Special Support Section, while Trails to Azure continues the story as political pressure around Crossbell escalates.

These are heavily interconnected RPGs, so Zero should absolutely come first if you have never played either. Together they form one of the most important bridges between the Sky and Cold Steel eras of Falcom’s enormous interconnected series.

The rebuilt second chapter continues Estelle’s search for Joshua while Ouroboros begins moving openly against Liberl.

The Switch 2 Edition does not add story content compared with the standard release, but it does provide higher resolutions, improved textures and better frame rates in both handheld and TV modes.

That makes September something of a Falcom marathon. You could realistically spend the entire month playing Trails and still be several governments, conspiracies and emotional reunions away from the finish line.

SEPTEMBER 15

Crypto returns in the remake of the second Destroy All Humans, complete with larger environments, ridiculous alien weaponry, UFO destruction and its intentionally tasteless Cold War parody.

Reprobed is a more ambitious remake than the first game’s refresh, with larger areas and a broader arsenal that lets Crypto turn human civilization into a physics experiment very quickly.

Another Eden Begins turns the long-running time-travel RPG into a dedicated console adventure.

Scenario writer Masato Kato and composer Yasunori Mitsuda give it some obvious classic-JRPG DNA, while the story follows Aldo across different eras in search of his kidnapped sister.

The Switch 2 Edition supports enhanced graphics, up to 4K output and improved performance reaching 60fps. New Game+ also opens more than ten possible endings after the main story.

SEPTEMBER 16

Arc System Works’ Granblue fighter finally reaches Switch 2 with a huge roster and cross-platform multiplayer.

The Legendary Edition launches with 40 playable characters already unlocked, plus Story Mode, Figure Studio and the chaotic Grand Bruise party mode. Simplified Smart and Super Ultimate controls also make it much easier to recommend to players who like fighting games but do not want to spend a weekend memorizing quarter-circle inputs.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is Nintendo’s big first-party release of the month.

The story follows four heroes whose fortunes become connected through the Heroic Games in the Dagdan Empire. Cai wants to save his imprisoned father, Dietrich searches for increasingly strong opponents, Theodora pursues her homeland’s dream and Leda is driven by revenge.

Between tactical battles, players can explore Dagsion, train, recruit allies, strengthen relationships and travel outside the city for additional experience. Time travel connects the four stories and raises the stakes well beyond winning a tournament.

SEPTEMBER 18

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight retells Bruce Wayne’s journey from training with the League of Shadows to becoming Gotham’s established protector.

The important difference from older LEGO Batman games is scale. Gotham is fully explorable, while Batman, Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul all have their own abilities and gadgets.

The game also digs deep into Batman history with around 100 suits inspired by decades of comics, movies and other adaptations. It looks less like another straightforward LEGO platformer and more like TT Games attempting a giant playable Batman museum with an actual campaign wrapped around it.

Dragon Quest XI S already has a long history on Nintendo Switch, but September brings a dedicated Switch 2 version rather than simple backward compatibility.

The Definitive Edition still includes the complete Luminary adventure, orchestral music, additional character scenarios and the option to play in classic 2D mode. Save data is not compatible between the original Switch and Switch 2 versions, so returning players should keep that in mind before planning another hundred-hour journey through Erdrea.

Lizardcube’s hand-drawn revival of SHINOBI gets its own native Switch 2 release with save transfer available from the original Switch version.

The game combines fast 2D combat, platforming and exploration with the visual style you would expect from the team behind Streets of Rage 4. The Digital Deluxe release also adds a SEGA Villains stage featuring Majima, Dr. Eggman and Golden Axe’s Death Adder, which is certainly one way to make a ninja’s day more complicated.

Mojang’s dungeon-crawling Minecraft spin-off returns with a new threat spanning two worlds, new locations and tougher enemy encounters.

The sequel keeps the approachable action-RPG structure of the original. You can tackle it alone or bring up to three other players through online or couch co-op. That makes it a good counterweight to several of September’s much denser RPGs.

The biggest surprise of the month may be a game that originally launched in 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered brings Geralt to Switch 2 in a dedicated native version with upgraded visuals, performance, combat, controls and skill progression. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included as part of the package.

Existing owners of The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to claim the Switch 2 Remastered version as a free upgrade. The new release is a separate download rather than simply a patch running over the old Switch application.

The timing is also deliberate. CD PROJEKT RED used Gamescom 2026 to announce both Remastered and Songs of the Past, a completely new Witcher 3 expansion scheduled for 2027.

Diablo IV should not be added to your September preorder list yet. A September 15 Switch 2 release continues to circulate in release lists and leaks, but Blizzard and Nintendo have not formally announced the port.

September could be rough on the backlog.
