The fourth edition of one of the most legendary board games
Mecatol Rex. Center of a famous galaxy and once home to the Lazax Empire. Today, Rex is just the wreckage of a mighty civilization, a long-forgotten empire, and an object of desire for all races involved in galactic conflicts.
A galaxy at war
For two decades, Twilight Imperium has been an unsurpassed model of genius and monumental strategy. The fourth edition is the most polished version of the game ever created. Three to six players will face off in a military, political, and economic battle for control of the galaxy. 16 factions, over 350 figures, 51 tiles, 561 markers and almost 400 different cards - it must be impressive!
History of civilization
Each game in the Twilight Imperium is a separate, unique epic full of betrayal, conflict and wonderful conquests. The galaxy is made up of 51 tiles with everything from virgin planets to supernovae to asteroid fields and gravity faults. Players receive tile pools and alternately "arrange the universe" around Mecatol Rex - the galactic capital located in its center. A strategically placed ion storm can act as a natural barrier for your race, limiting the direction of development, and a lucky gravity fault can protect a peaceful nation from an aggressive neighbor. In Twilight Imperium, you are both constructors and conquerors of space!
The game round begins with choosing one of the 8 strategy cards that determine the order of the players and the unique actions available to them (from providing additional order tokens to ensuring control of trading across the galaxy). Once chosen, players activate their interstellar flotillas by jumping between systems, conquering new planets for their empires, trading and forging alliances. At the end of the turn, the players agree on new laws and agendas that often change the face of the game in unexpected ways.
At the end of each round, the victory points are scored for meeting the conditions of the 10 face-down cards, of which the next one is revealed each turn. Each player also has two secret objectives, the completion of which will bring him additional points. These goals may include developing a new technology, conquering a neighbor's homeland, or some other event. The longer the game goes on, the more secret objectives are distributed to players, making the game dynamic and creating satisfying challenges - until one of the rulers reaches 10 points, ending the game.
Trading, exploring, conquering, developing, managing - here comes the best strategy of all time. If you've ever thought about whether there is one game in the world that is worth having on your shelf, because it will never get old, won't get bored and you'll always be happy to come back to it (as soon as you have a few hours of free time to play), the answer is simple - Twilight Imperium.
