Plot

The gaming world constructed draws influence from the iconic genre of hack and slash. A cathedral towers over the Town where all the action occurs, with its underbelly consisting of catacombs. An emergent evil from deep within these labyrinthine catacombs endangers the local inhabitants. An itinerant hero, embodied by the player, is their only hope against this supreme evil.

Dark fantasy game settings usually feature various monsters like phantoms, arachnids, goat-like beasts, demons, skeleton troops, zombies, and stone beasts. There are four inhabitants in the Town, above the land - a Wise Man, a Fortune Teller, a Tavern Maiden, and a Healer. These characters enrich the game's storyline through their rumors.

Gameplay

Flexiscope allows you to split the game up into different play sessions. In the Book of Demons, there are three classes of characters. Thanks to them, you can spice up your gameplay and try different styles of overcoming challenges: 

• The Artifact cards are used heavily by a Warrior who specializes in melee combat and defensive skills.
• Mages specialize in melee attacks and offensive spell cards that draw mana. 
• Rogue is a character that combines close-quarters and long-distance combat, focusing on playing Item cards.

• The average time it takes to complete a campaign with a single character class is about 10 hours.
• All elements of the game are visualized as papercuttings and pop-up book elements.
• "Book of Demons" was intended as a lighthearted celebration of classic games from the hack and slash genre from the 1990s.
• This isn't a card game, however, you now have the opportunity to use cards to substitute objects, enchantments, and skills. Choosing the appropriate cards for the scenario can be challenging.
