Gameplay

Dungeon Settlers connects settlement management directly with dungeon exploration. Before entering the dungeon, you need to provide your people with shelter and food, develop production facilities, research useful technologies, craft equipment, and prepare expedition supplies.

Recruitment is another important part of the experience. Characters come with different abilities, talents, statistics, traits, backgrounds, and racial characteristics. You can level them up, equip them, develop specialized skill trees, and combine up to four characters into a party suited to the challenges ahead.

Dungeon encounters take place in real time, but combat can be paused whenever you need time to issue orders or reconsider your strategy. Positioning, enemy weaknesses, status effects, equipment, and skill combinations all matter. Expeditions are also procedurally varied, with changing floors, rooms, environmental effects, resources, merchants, and hostile creatures encouraging careful preparation before every descent.

Story

You take command of an expedition sent by the Guild to investigate and ultimately destroy a dungeon believed to be the source of devastating calamities. Your group establishes a settlement in barren land affected by magical erosion, creating a base from which increasingly dangerous expeditions can be launched.

Deeper inside the dungeon, explorers encounter strange remnants of magical experiments, unusual creatures, valuable natural resources, and mysterious phenomena. Progress therefore involves more than simply winning battles: every expedition contributes materials and discoveries needed to strengthen the settlement and prepare for what lies further below.

Dungeon Settlers uses a 2D pixel-art presentation combined with a dark fantasy setting. Medieval-style settlement buildings, underground chambers, adventurers, monsters, magical effects, and hostile environments support the contrast between managing a growing colony and exploring dangerous dungeon regions.
