Road to Guangdong

Road to Guangdong is a unique combination of an adventure video game, with some simulation game elements, developed by the independent studio, Just Add Oil Games, and released in 2020. During the game, players will on a journey through China, driving an old family car. Because of the fact that the car has its best years behind it, the trip will be filled with surprises. The game features simple but nice, cartoonish, and colorful graphics which creates a truly unique atmosphere.

Storyline

In the game, players take on the role of Sonny - a 23-year-old artist. One day, she unexpectedly inherits an old family restaurant. To save the family business she must travel across China driving an old, and dusty family car. Together with her aunt Guu Ma she embarks on an unforgettable adventure.

The gameplay of Road to Guangdong focuses on the car travel. It's an old, dusty family car and that is why the player should always keep an eye on various gauges and indicators to prevent any possible malfunction. Players have to control levels of fuel, oil, even the tires' air pressure. If something goes wrong, you will have to locate and fix the problem by yourself. Dialogues between Sonny and other independent characters that she will meet during the voyage, also play an important role in the game. Our decisions during conversations will shape the personality of the main protagonist and have an impact on her relationship with Guu Ma.
