Fire Emblem Engage

Fire Emblem Engage is the seventeenth installment of the Fire Emblem series. This tactical role-playing game was developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch console in 2023.

An awoken dragon

The main protagonist of Fire Emblem Engage is Alear, an awoken dragon whose gender can be determined by the player. Gaining the title of the Divine Dragon once their mother is found killed, Alear and their allies decide to finish the millennium-long fight with Sombron, the Fall Dragon wanting to conquer the once peaceful continent of Elyos, once and for all.

Just like the previous installments of the franchise, Fire Emblem Engage is a single-player fantasy tactical role-playing game. The player’s role is to guide Alear and their allies through a series of exciting turn-based fights requiring lots of strategic skills. The fights take place on a chessboard-esque grid with multiple pathways and obstacles. Every combat is a challenge - with unique Emblem Rings mechanics, many leveling up opportunities and multiple characters with unusual skills to be unlocked along the way!

Fire Emblem Engage features two new combat mechanics - Chain Attacks and Chain Guards, which are powerful support-style moves that may cost your opponents a victory!

Fight and relax

Combat is not the only feature of the game though - your characters need to relax, too! Let them play one of the many minigames (for example, fishing, riding a wyvern, or polishing Emblem Rings minigame), upgrade their equipment and help them shop for new items - all in the picturesque Somniel, a flying refuge area. You can also discover new plot elements by developing their relationships!

Want to relax in general? Do not worry - Fire Emblem Engage features three difficulty levels as well as classic and casual modes for flawless entertainment for everyone. That’s not all though - although the game is single-player only, it also features quasi-multiplayer modes (available with a Nintendo Switch Online account) for even more fun!
