Plot

The Battle Brothers video game allows you to take on the role of a mercenary campaign commander. This turn-based tactical story will take you to a medieval fantasy world where it's up to you to decide who is needed, how the fight should go, with whom to make alliances, and which skills to develop to best manage the world. What are you willing to go to to ensure victory? You'll only find out when you try to get them.

As a commander, you have 12 mercenaries with individual characteristics under you, which you can equip according to your preferences and capabilities. The class system was not used in the game mechanics. Characters are defined by attributes, talents, and items that are related to their daily activities. You can choose, for instance, Adventurous Noble, Wildman, or Dodge.

Gameplay

The game is actually divided into two layers. The first one is the strategic part, which consists primarily of free travel and discovering new locations. You can also make deals and collect coins, fight opponents, or replenish necessary supplies not only for yourself but also for your subordinates.

When you attack enemies, you go to the tactical map, where you can face opponents in the form of subsequent turns. Based on various factors, initiative is decisive.
