Gameplay

RuneQuest: Warlords features grid-based tactical combat where terrain and positioning play a crucial role. Units exert a 'Zone of Control,' forcing enemies to engage or maneuver carefully. Action Points (AP) govern movement, attacks, and special abilities, with Heroes gaining extra AP for advanced tactics like flanking and spellcasting. Magic is divided into Spirit, Rune, and Sorcery, each offering unique abilities. Sentry Mode allows units to guard positions automatically, while tactical reactions such as Opportunity Attacks add depth to combat. Three factions—Talastar, Chaos, and the Lunar Empire—provide varied units, from heroes and spellcasters to cavalry and artillery, each with distinct strengths.

Story

The game is set in the mystical world of Glorantha during the year 7/37 (1608), where the Talastar Tribes fight for survival against the Chaos hordes from Dorastor. Players follow Hahlgrim, a tribal champion, as he gathers allies—including elves and temporary Lunar forces—to repel the invasion. Across 18 missions, the campaign weaves a tale of heroism, betrayal, and strategic warfare, featuring iconic RuneQuest characters like Ketil Whiteye, Hakon the Swimmer, and Ralzakark.
