The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is an action role-playing game released in 2011 by CD Projekt Red. This is the second part of the epic series of video games set in the world created by Andrzej Sapkowski, devoted to the adventures of the fearless professional monster killer, Geralt.

Story

Temeria is facing entirely new threats that can have a dramatic impact on the lives of the local population. Humans live in conflict with other races, and no one is sure what turn will be taken by future affairs. The greatest threat, however, is the elves who have partnered with the mysterious Assassin of Kings. Foltest, the current ruler of the land, is in mortal danger. Will the witcher Geralt be able to save his life and restore the once-forgotten peace?

Witcher 2 Gameplay

The gameplay focuses on exploring the open world and following the main storyline. Playing as Geralt, you are quite well adjusted to the surrounding reality, and you possess very strong abilities from the very beginning. The gameplay offers both following the main plot and engaging in side quests. This title is full of learning about amazing stories, meeting fascinating independent characters, and getting into dangerous fights with monsters straight from Slavic fairy tales.

What is more, you will also meet several important characters recognized from the saga of The Witcher. Among them will be the beautiful sorceress Triss Merigold and your dearest friend, the cheeky bard Dandelion. Some of the characters you meet can become your travel companions while having a huge impact on the plot. The creators of The Witcher 2 put a lot of attention on the freedom of the player's choice, so the smallest decision can be full of extremely significant consequences.

Your companions hold their own will and motivations while influencing your decisions. Ultimately, however, it is only up to you what path the upcoming story will follow. The Witcher 2 tends to be realistic, which is why you will find yourself in many quite lifelike situations. In addition to playing the protagonist, you'll also play as an ordinary traveler who enjoys romance with lovely women. Or you can have a good time playing addictive mini-games such as dice or arm wrestling.

There is also the combat, which has been significantly improved in this installment. Armed with two swords, you'll engage in action-packed fights that involve both your sword-holding skills and the use of magic. In this part, there are also traps in your arsenal and the possibility of using explosives, which significantly diversifies the fight.

Reception

After the enormous success of the first installment of the series, The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings was warmly received even before it was fully released. The players, on the other hand, were particularly delighted with the enormity of details regarding the designed scenes and plot.
