Gameplay

You start off with next to nothing, the night is coming, and the only way to get resources to keep on living is to do it with your own hands. As you play, you will acquire more materials, better recipes, and just barely tip the odds in your favor against the progressively more aggressive undead. The danger you are in is directly influenced by the time of day: during daylight, rotting walkers are slow and easy to outmaneuver, but at night they become faster, deadlier, and relentlessly aggressive, capable of climbing, digging, and tearing through walls and doors to reach you.

Story

In the near future, a nuclear war leads to the near‑total collapse of human civilization, and much of the surviving population becomes infected with a virus that kills within seven days before transforming its carriers into ravenous zombies. Players take on the role of one of the few still‑healthy survivors trying to endure in the American county of Navezgane, a name that in Apache means "monster slayer," reflecting the grim task ahead. Life in this post‑apocalyptic landscape isn't easy, and it takes its toll on your health constantly, testing your wits, resourcefulness, and will to survive against both the undead and human fallibility.

Graphics

7 Days to Die presents its post‑apocalyptic world through a distinctive voxel‑based art style, allowing for extensive terrain deformation and structural destruction across Navezgane's forests, deserts, snowy regions, and ruined towns. The 1.0 release brought significant visual upgrades over more than a decade in Early Access, refining lighting, environmental detail, and zombie animations to better convey the grim, decaying atmosphere of a world overrun by the undead.
