Lightning vs on-chain bitcoin 

Azteco offers two kinds of bitcoin vouchers: lighting and on-chain.

Lightning vouchers use the Bitcoin Lightning Network to transfer your bitcoin. Lightning transactions are completed in a few seconds and network processing fees are typically less than a few cents.

On-chain vouchers use the Main Bitcoin Network to transfer your bitcoin. On-chain transactions can take several minutes to complete and network processing fees can cost several dollars.

How do I redeem an Azteco voucher?

You will need a bitcoin wallet app to redeem your Azteco voucher and to receive your bitcoin. Learn more about bitcoin wallets at azte.co/bitcoin-wallets

2. Enter your 16-digit voucher code to receive a QR code.
3. Launch your bitcoin wallet app and select “Receive” to scan a lightning QR code.

Does Azteco have access to my bitcoin?

No. When you redeem your Azteco voucher, the bitcoin is transferred immediately to your wallet. Azteco never has access to your wallet or your bitcoin. 

Do I need to create an Azteco account?

No. You don’t need to create an Azteco account to buy or redeem a bitcoin voucher.

Can I use my Azteco voucher code for online payments?

No. We do not recommend or support Azteco voucher codes being used for online payments. You should always redeem your Azteco voucher to a bitcoin wallet.

If a website asks to enter your voucher code as payment for a product or service, consider whether you trust that website and whether it might be a scam request.

How is the bitcoin value of the voucher calculated?

The bitcoin value of the voucher is calculated using the market price of bitcoin at the time of purchase. Azteco vouchers purchased from this site include a 10% commission fee. On-chain vouchers also include a "Network fee" to cover the cost of processing your voucher using the Main Bitcoin Network.
