Guild Wars is an MMORPG created by Arena Net – industry veterans behind such games as Warcraft or Diablo.

In a world torn by conflict, where human kingdoms are all but destroyed and guilds sacrifice all for a chance to control the Hall of Heroes, a champion must rise from the ruins of a once-proud land to lead refugees from the ashes and fulfill an ancient prophecy. Will that hero be you?

Guild Wars doesn't have any subscription fees. Once you buy the game you can play it indefinitely. The towns in Guild Wars are the only places where you can meet other players. Once outside you and your party members fight in an instanced world full of enemies and loot. The game is story driven so no pointles questing is involved.

Guild Wars is not a typical MMORPG. It's very focused on the story and the only place that you can meet other players are the towns. Outside everyone gets their own instance of the world. You can take a party of friends with you or rely on the AI team of helpers of your choice.
