Halo 3

Halo 3 is a first-person shooter action game developed by Bungee and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The third installment of the acclaimed Halo series tells the story of Master Chief, an enhanced soldier waging war against the coalition of alien races known as the Covenant. As the war enters the next stage, a new type of enemy emerges to threaten both humankind and the Covenant.

Gameplay

As with the previous installments of the series, Halo 3 focuses on high-speed first-person shooter action. The player controls Master Chief throughout the entire game, fighting against the enemy warriors of the Covenant. Cheif has a variety of Earth and alien weapons at his disposal, including the legendary energy sword. Some of the weapons can be dual-wielded for combined firepower. At various points in the game, the player will be able to drive USMC and Covenant vehicles, to gain the upper hand in battle.

The game can be played in either single or multiplayer. The player an go through the story campaign solo or in co-op. The multiplayer mode provides several types of matches, such as deathmatch and capture-the-flag.

Story

Mankind's war against the Covenant continues, and the hivemind Flood remains a threat to both races. Following their crash-landing on Earth, Master Chief and Cortana join the expedition through a portal opened by the High Prophet of Truth in order to finally put an end to the conflict. What they find on the other end of the galaxy will forever change the fate of the universe.

Reception

Halo 3 was met with a universally positive critical reception. The reviewers praised the gameplay mechanics, the story campaign writing as well as the multiplayer modes, among others. Halo 3 was nominated to and won several gaming industry accolades, including Spike TV Best Multiplayer Game award.
