Highwater

Highwater presents players with a unique post-apocalyptic setting. After a climate catastrophe, the entire Earth is flooded and humanity is almost wiped out. This setting is cleverly combined with gameplay as in combat, the player must often use the environment to their advantage in order to survive deadly encounters. Highwater is an indie action-adventure game that offers a great story and interesting characters with excellent turn-based gameplay to deliver an awesome experience that makes the game stand out among other titles.

Story

Climate Catastrophe made Earth nearly uninhabitable for humans. Now only a few dry locations remain among the vast and deadly oceans. Hightower serves as a safe haven between two other main dry locations. Alphaville serves as home to the richest, who live behind fortified walls and are not keen on letting anyone inside. War Zone, on the other hand, is a ravaged battlefield where only death and suffering can be found.

There is slight hope, however. As there are rumors about the escape plan to Mars. This is the goal of Highwater's main protagonist, Nikos. But can he and his friends make it in time? That is in your hands.

Gameplay

Highwater's gameplay can be divided into two parts: exploration and combat. You can explore the flooded and destroyed planet by boat, visiting different islands and observing the devastation that was wrought upon the civilization. You can encounter other survivors, new allies, but also many enemies. Here's when the game shifts into turn-based combat. The twist about it is that to win you will have to use the environment to defeat your opponents. This not only spices up the gameplay, but also emphasizes the role of your surroundings and the world around you.
