HELLDIVERS 2 is a critically acclaimed, best‑selling sequel to another smash hit video game, Helldivers, from 2015. This amazing cooperative third‑person PvE shooter was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, launching on PlayStation 5 and PC in February 2024, with an Xbox Series version following on August 26, 2025.
Unlike the original Helldivers, a top‑down shooter, Helldivers 2 is an online sci‑fi third‑person shooter with squad‑based, PvE gameplay. Every brave Helldiver can try their luck alone or join a cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players, capturing hostile planets across procedurally generated missions that require careful coordination and communication. Be careful though, as friendly fire is always on and cannot be disabled, so players must select loadouts, gear, and stratagems, such as cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators, and supply pods, with real teamwork in mind.
Join the one and only Helldivers' squad, The Galaxy's Last Line of Offence, and fight hordes of deadly enemies to save the Universe from alien threats. Make your mark in the ever‑going intergalactic struggle: capture hostile planets and do everything you can to keep your squad and humanity safe from the cosmic invasion, as the totalitarian regime of Super Earth wages relentless war against the insectoid Terminids and robotic Automatons. Choose a mission for your squad to complete, including Defend Freedom, Bug Extermination, Protect Liberty, and Destroy Automatons Operation Missions, and become the best Helldiver in the Universe.
Helldivers 2 marks a major visual shift from the original, moving from a top‑down view to a close, over‑the‑shoulder third‑person perspective that puts players right in the middle of the chaos. Sprawling procedurally generated planetary battlefields, massive alien hordes, and explosive orbital strikes create a satisfying, cinematic sense of scale, while the game's tongue‑in‑cheek, propaganda‑style presentation gives every mission a distinct, over‑the‑top identity.
