Mosaic

Mosaic is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Krillbite Studio and published by Raw Fury. In the game, the players job is to lead the nameless protagonist through a week of work at his corporation. The gameplay mechanics are restricted to leading the player character from place to place and interacting with the employee's smartphone. Mosaic focuses on representing the depressingly mundane daily activities, and how even the smallest distractions from the routine can be perceived as miracles. Mosaic received positive reviews from the critics.

The daily grind

The gameplay of Mosaic is very limited and requires the player to lead the nameless employee of a certain corporation through his daily work activities. The player has no influence on the game word – a gray and depressive space devoid of anything the player could interact with. Mosaic emphasizes the pointless and repetitive nature of daily grind.

The game mechanics offer few distractions for the depressing environment. One of them is the protagonist's phone, which he can use to play a game to kill time on the train or to avoid contact with his colleagues in the elevator. The player can also play a mini game, which goal is to create a grid to reach a milestone. Both activities are unproductive and lead nowhere, but they kill the time just fine...

Mosaic is presented almost entirely in desaturated grays. However, at certain points during the gameplay, the player can witness a blast of colors, e.g. from a sunrise, showering the protagonist's room with bright yellow ans orange hue. These events drive home the idea that in a dull and empty life, even such common phenomena can bring a bit of light and joy.

The story of corporate life

Your life is meaningless. Your job is pointless. You meander from one point to another, without knowing why you are even doing this. Any attempt at an interaction is futile, nobody cares about you enough to engage. All your worth is determined by your productivity, but how can you be productive when all you really want is to lie on the ground and never get up.
