Gameplay
Shift At Midnight combines routine night-shift work with tense detective decisions. Players must stock shelves, take deliveries, clean the store, serve customers, and meet nightly quotas while also checking whether each visitor is truly human. This means examining IDs, cross-checking customer details on the computer, watching behavior, and deciding when someone is a threat.
When the wrong customer leaves the store, the game changes from investigation to survival. Players must quickly board up doors, lay traps, hide, and work together to stay alive. The co-op design encourages communication, task sharing, and quick reactions, while proximity chat makes every panic-filled moment feel more immediate.
Story
The story of Shift At Midnight puts players in the role of late-night gas station workers facing something far worse than difficult customers. During each shift, some visitors are doppelgangers pretending to be human. If players fail to identify them in time, these creatures can return later as monsters and turn the quiet workplace into a fight for survival.
Rather than relying on a traditional heroic adventure, the game builds its story around workplace pressure, suspicion, and escalating horror. Every customer interaction becomes part of the mystery, and every wrong call can make the night more dangerous.
Graphics
Shift At Midnight uses a first-person 3D visual style with a retro 1990s horror atmosphere. Its gas station setting, dark lighting, late-night mood, and unsettling customer designs create a tense theme where ordinary spaces feel unsafe. The game mixes everyday store details with survival horror elements, making the location feel familiar, strange, and threatening at the same time.
