It is the remake of the 2003 PS2 title, based on the TV show SpongeBob SquarePants. In Battle for Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and his friends face the invasion of robots in their hometown of Bikini Bottom. BfBB-R features three playable characters – SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. Each of them has different unique abilities the player can use throughout the game. The gameplay mechanics involve exploring levels in search of various items, including Shiny Objects, Socks, and Golden Spatulas. Each item has a different use: Shiny Objects can be traded for passage to the next level and extra challenges, 10 Socks can be exchanged for a Golden Spatula, which unlocks more levels, including the final boss challenge.
