Death Trash

Death Trash is an action-RPG video game developed by Crafting Legends. In the game, the player takes the role of a wasteland traveler on the planet Nexus, where humans were corraled into enclosed habitats by an ancient alien race, leaving the large swaths of land to those strong enough to survive in the deadly environment. The key features of DT are the role-playing game mechanics, co-op multiplayer mode, and its retro design. The game's Early Access version was met with a highly positive reception.

Gameplay

Death Trash is an old-school action-RPG, with various unique gameplay features that will entice both genre veterans and casual players. The players observe the action from the isometric POV as their character - one that can be customized before the start of the game - travels across the open-world planet Nexus, exploring vast deserts, ancient ruins, and abandoned installations. The player can use both melee weapons and firearms to deal with the opposition. Certain NPCs can be interacted with through dialogue options, allowing the player to avoid lethal confrontation. The game offers a co-op multiplayer in which two outcasts can travel and complete quests together. Each character is independent of their partner, with both players choosing different dialogue options, etc.

Story Summary

The planet Nexus was the crown achievement of humankind's quest for the stars. Driven by pride and greed, the home sapiens of Earth decided to dig into the deep crevices of this new world to dig out its secrets. The secrets decided to fight back, and the native race of Nexus drove the humans into enclosed habitats. The only ones left wandering the desert areas are the outcasts, unfit to live within the society due to their violent nature. As one of the outcasts, your task will be to explore the planet and find out what exactly led to the war between humans and aliens.

Reception

The Early Access version of Death Trash received positive attention from the players. They noted the excellent RPG gameplay, setting and style, as well as the large amount of freedom given to the player, as the major positives. Some players drew favorable comparisons between the game and the Fallout series due to its post-apocalyptic themes and RPG mechanics.
