F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. is a first-person shooter with elements of psychological horror, where as a member of the titular special operations unit you will have to directly deal with the source of supernatural phenomena. You are still just a recruit and your most recent task is certainly not an easy one, but you’ll have to find a way to succeed anyway – it’s not only your own life that’s at stake, but the safety of the entire region. Fight against a force of destructive evil, and uncover the secrets behind a private military company’s research program.

Gameplay

In F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon your primary task is to deal with supernatural forces and fight for your own survival in a classic FPS fashion. You will have a good choice of weaponry and explosives at your disposal, although dealing with pure evil may require more than that. Melee combat is also a possibility and a viable way of taking care of regular enemies, allowing you to save precious bullets for when they’re needed the most – that’s especially important for more powerful guns that suffer from ammo scarcity the most.

Reflex Time

Although you are just a rookie in the F.E.A.R. squad, you are far from being useless. You can efficiently use a variety of weapons in combat, but most importantly, you have access to a rare and powerful ability called Reflex Time. With its use you will be able to slow down time, significantly improving your combat capabilities and reaction time temporarily. This is your primary defense system and as such you are advised to master it – it will help you deal with overwhelming enemy forces that seem to be surprisingly smart.

Absolute Horror

The atmosphere in F.E.A.R. video game plays just as important role as the gameplay itself. It’s genuinely scary and not necessarily in a jump scare way, which is not an easy feat to accomplish. It’s the feeling of uncertainty when diving deeper into the unknown and facing powers beyond comprehension – you don’t know what that evil force is capable of; you don’t know its intentions; you don’t know if and when you’re being watched by it. Don’t let your guard down – you are in a hostile environment, so prepare for the worst.
