Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Xbox app/Microsoft Store and Steam. Players who buy the Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade get up to four days of Early Access starting May 15, 2026. The PS5 version is confirmed for later in 2026, but it does not have an exact release date yet.

Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan. Playground Games describes it as a Horizon-style interpretation of Japan rather than a 1:1 recreation, mixing urban and rural landscapes, vertical terrain, seasonal biomes, and Japanese car culture. Forza Horizon 6 will launch with more than 550 cars, which Playground says is more cars on day one than any previous Forza Horizon game. More cars will be added after release, including vehicles delivered through DLC and the Car Pass.

A PlayStation 5 version is confirmed for later in 2026, but not for launch day. There is currently no official Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version announced.

Officially, Playground describes the Forza Horizon 6 Japan map as the largest map in a Horizon game yet, as well as the series’ most dense and vertical map. However, the studio has not published an exact km² or square-mile measurement. We do know that Tokyo City is five times larger than Forza Horizon 5’s Guanajuato, and the world includes dense urban areas, mountain roads, rural regions, seasonal biomes, and famous routes inspired by real Japanese driving locations.

Community map-size estimates exist, but they should be treated as speculation until Playground publishes a numeric figure. The official Forza forums include fan theories based on Google Earth and trailer analysis, but even forum users note that Horizon maps use creative liberties rather than 1:1 geography.

Plan for a very large install. Current pre-load reporting shows the active pre-install at about 134.86 GB on Xbox and 146.4 GB on PC, while earlier Xbox app estimates showed roughly 144 GB on Xbox Series X|S and 156 GB on PC. Because launch builds and platform compression can change, the safest recommendation is to keep at least 150–160 GB free, especially on PC.

The Forza Horizon 6 cover cars are the 2025 GR GT Prototype and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. Playground also notes that the 2025 GR GT Prototype makes its video game debut in Forza Horizon 6.

Official Forza sources confirm the May 19, 2026 full release and May 15, 2026 Early Access date, but they do not clearly publish one universal unlock-time table in the official FAQ. Current SteamDB-based launch-time tracking points to a simultaneous global unlock around:
