About Grimm Episode 11 - King Midas

In the third episode of the second season, Grimm once again sets out to bring the darker side of fairy tales to life. First the original tale of King Midas is shown. He was chosen to judge a musical contest between the sun god Apollo and the satyr Marsyas. Apollo doesn't like the result so he curses King Midas with donkey ears. Trying to hide the ears, the secret eventually gets out and King Midas becomes a laughing stock. Some other gods get involved and remove the curse but give him a special power that his name has become synonymous with and learns a lesson in the end.

The player controls Grimm going through the levels darkening whatever he touches, a meter of darkness fills up and parts of the story become more violent and menacing. Statues become gorgons, villagers change to soldiers, and once King Midas gets the golden touch then everything starts turning to gold. Grimm can "buttstomp" near the critical scenes that move the story along and also to slow down civilians who try to clean up the darkness he leaves behind. Midas becomes an impulsive murderer, Dionysus has trouble standing and Ares hits his father so hard that Olympus falls to pieces. Giant gold coins materialize from nowhere and squish villagers into pieces. The revised dark version of the story is shown at the end of the levels.
