The Wind Road 紫塞秋风

The Wind Road 紫塞秋风 is a real-time combat RPG action single-player game produced by the Chinese studio Gansu Jiayuan Digital Technology. The plot of the game is set in fictional times in the realities of the Silk Road and allows the player to experience the atmosphere of ancient China, conflicts and cultural wonders significant for that period.

Story

Take on the role of a mercenary, whose task is to escort monks who deliver extremely important manuscripts to the Imperial Court. It is not an easy task, because the barbarians invading the Silk Road are acting more and more boldly and at this point, they organize to take control of the crucial territory of Longyou, which may result in the loss of many innocent lives.

The Wind Road Gameplay

All the gameplay takes place in a world that is a mixture of different periods in China's ancient history and also has its roots in stories and legends. Events are observed from a third-person perspective. The game presents the features of a regular indie RPG because the gameplay is mainly about exploring the map, taking on the quests and developing skills. 

However, a lot of emphasis was placed on the fight, which looks extremely epic. The fights are quick and require great agility and concentration. The player has at his disposal a wide number of all kinds of moves, dodges, blocks, attacks typical for Asian martial arts, he can also use special magic techniques. Sword fighting is extremely exciting here, but you can also fistfight or try your hand at archery. An interesting element is the use of Inner Qi methods, which come in six different versions depending on the current needs and skills of the player. You can even get drunk in this game and use drunk martial arts!

The Wind Road game also provides the possibility of crafting, which allows you to improve your weapons. In addition, there is also a need to stock up on hidden weaponry like knives or darts that can be poisoned, sharpened or frozen as needed. There are never too many hidden weapons in this dangerous world. Equipment and clothing items are also collected, affecting not only the character's stats but also their appearance.

The Wind Road Reception

The game is extremely beautiful and what its authors have achieved in terms of graphics is absolute gold. The atmosphere in which this indie RPG takes place is quite dark but literally filled with elements of Chinese culture, which creates an out-of-this-world mood and allows you to feel in it in the instant. Sometimes The Wind Road is even called the Chinese equivalent of The Witcher 3, due to the very similar graphics, plot and use of traditional martial arts combined with a magic known from stories and legends.
