What's Oblivion About?

Just like the original and other games in the TES series, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered is set in a vast fantasy world on the continent of Tamriel. This time, players are transported to its heart — the Empire of Cyrodiil.

You take on the role of a prisoner, unexpectedly freed by Emperor Uriel Septim VII after a prophetic dream. The emperor believes you hold the key to saving the collapsing empire — threatened by the lack of a rightful heir and a growing daedric invasion spilling through the gates of a dark dimension called Oblivion. When the emperor is brutally assassinated, the fate of the entire world suddenly rests in your hands.

Gameplay and Mechanics

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered features a vast open world and complete freedom of choice: from customizing your hero’s appearance and skills, to choosing the order of your quests, to deciding how you’ll solve challenges — through violent combat, stealth, or magic.

Along the way, you can join different factions, level up a wide variety of skills, build your fame (or infamy), and uncover the deep and complex lore hidden throughout the empire and beyond.

While the story and spirit of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered remain faithful to the original, the technical improvements are massive. The visuals have been completely overhauled, and the refined gameplay is smoothing out many of the clunky mechanics from twenty years ago.

Even better, this version comes packed with two fantastic story expansions: Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, plus a whole suite of bonus content including Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, and Wizard’s Tower.
