Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York

Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York is a single-player adventure game in the style of a strongly narrative-driven visual novel that is based on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade and set in the fictional universe called World of Darkness.

Gameplay

Stepping into the World of Darkness you will take the role of one of the three newly created vampires, each of them belonging to a different clan, giving you the possibility to get through the game the way you want. Each of the three vampires possesses different skills and ways of interacting with this complex world full of politics and mysteries.

Hide your presence

As a single-player adventure game, the Masquerade is involving players in various activities through participating in dialogues and making choices that have an impact on the story. The player’s task is to not to get themselves revealed as a Vampire and not to succumb to their bloodthirst, as when the player gets discovered, the Masquerade comes to an end. Apart from the main quest player can choose to complete many side and loyalty quests, the last one allowing forming bonds with different characters.  

Choose your way

As a vampire the player can belong to one of the few vampire clans, each of them offering different dialogue options as well as certain ethics and powers.

Each vampire possesses certain abilities such as the Presence which is the force influence the emotions of humans, however, different clans offer some special abilities. So if you choose to play as a Toreador you can make use of the increased speed called Celerity and supernatural senses known as Auspex or you can play as a Brujah and also use Celerity plus the Potency which increases strength. The last clan called Ventrue offers you the use of increased resilience called Fortitude and mind control named Dominate.

A strong story with an interesting style, many unexpected twists, and turns, fleshed out and memorable characters, as well as the beautiful hand-drawn style of scenery showing great detail of the action scenes, have also garnered it positive marks.
