The Gameplay

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition – a collab between DICE, Criterion Games and Motive Studios, released by EA in late 2017 – offers what Star Wars enthusiasts like best: lots of action wrapped around an unmistakable Star Wars vibe. A single-player campaign, set between The Return of The Jedi and The Force Awakens, introduces Iden Versio, the commander of Inferno Squad – an Imperial special ops strike force – who is to face demanding challenges and prove her commanding skills during clashes in many different star systems.

The game has over 10 other game modes including e.g. Ewok Hunt, Galactic Assault, Arcade and Instant Action – a well-known co-op mode from the previous installment, in which you engage in quick battles from all Star Wars saga, fighting arm-in-arm with your favorite heroes. Multiplayer is also available, with 4 playable classes to choose from: Assault, Heavy, Officer and Specialist. To top it off, Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition has lots of DLC’s called “seasons”, comprising maps for battles from subsequent installments of Star Wars sequel trilogy, let alone over 25 heroes skins, 125 units and soldiers skins, 100 emotes and voice lines, and 70 victory poses. It’s almost an embarrassment of riches and… you’ll love it!

Man, if you love Star Wars, this game is like stepping right into the movies. The graphics are stunning—Endor looks lush, Naboo is gorgeous, and space battles are just jaw-dropping. The sound design is on point, too; blasters and lightsabers sound exactly how you’d want them to, and the music pulls you right into the action. Multiplayer is where it really shines—big battles, tons of heroes and classes, and the feeling of being in a real Star Wars war is unbeatable. I love hopping between eras, from prequels to sequels, and the variety keeps things fresh. That said, the campaign is a mixed bag. The story isn’t bad, but it feels rushed and some missions are just wave after wave of enemies without much depth. Also, the original progression system was a mess (thankfully fixed), and some modes are missing split-screen, which is a bummer for local co-op. Still, if you’re here for multiplayer and Star Wars vibes, it’s a must-play.
