Superliminal

Superliminal is a first-person puzzle game with a significant dose of surreal elements. The game was developed and released in 2019 by the studio Pillow Castle, which had been working on this title since 2013. It is their first released game.

Story

In the Superliminal game, players take on the role of Dr. Glenn Pierce's patient, who is involved in the dream therapy program called Somnasculpta. Our protagonist is immersed in a deep healing dream designed to help him find peace of mind. However, things don't go entirely as planned for both the patient and the doctor - instead of waking up, we find ourselves sinking into an even deeper dream. It's up to us to escape from this surreal world!

Gameplay

Superliminal is an FPP (first-person perspective) puzzle game. The gameplay may not seem complicated at first. The game consists of several levels, and our task is to get from point A to point B and find the exit - and that’s the only easy part…

The game requires players to think outside the box. To progress through a level, we often need to manipulate various objects. This is frequently achieved through "forced perspective," a technique that utilizes optical illusion and visual tricks. In practice, this means that sometimes we need to literally "stand on our heads" to perceive the solution and find a way out!

In addition to its main storyline, Superliminal game includes a Challenge Mode where players must, for example, solve a puzzle within a limited number of moves.
