NBA 2K27 is a basketball sports simulation developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K, featuring NBA and WNBA stars, MyCAREER, MyTEAM, MyNBA, The City, and ProPLAY‑powered single‑player and multiplayer action.
NBA 2K27 combines basketball simulation with extensive player creation, team management and competitive multiplayer modes. On the court, players can use enhanced shooting, dribbling, layup and dunk mechanics while reading defensive positioning and adapting to more physical defensive systems. Different modes offer different ways to play: MyCAREER focuses on developing a custom athlete, MyTEAM lets players assemble squads from NBA and WNBA stars, while MyNBA provides deeper franchise management, and The City expands the experience into online street and organized basketball, where players can join friends, form Crews and compete across multiple venues.
The main narrative experience is found in MyCAREER. NBA 2K27 introduces Fire & Concrete, an 11‑chapter cinematic story following your custom MyPLAYER on a journey toward basketball greatness, with the option to build a career across five periods of NBA history, ranging from the Magic vs. Bird Era to the Steph Era. For the first time in the series, MyCAREER also supports co‑op through the Running Mate feature, allowing another player to control Trace Miller during supported parts of the career experience, while Deluxe and Ultra Edition owners additionally gain access to Victor Wembanyama and Caitlin Clark jerseys, along with bonus skill and Gatorade boosts to accelerate progression.
NBA 2K27 focuses on recreating the look and movement of professional basketball through ProPLAY technology, which converts footage from real NBA games into in‑game animations. More than 7,000 new animations help make shooting, dribbling, contact, defense and player movement feel closer to real on‑court action. The visual theme extends beyond professional arenas, as The City combines modern basketball culture with outdoor courts, rotating REC environments, Crew spaces, seasonal Parks and locations such as Rucker Park, giving different modes their own atmosphere while maintaining the presentation of the NBA 2K series.
