Gameplay
Borderlands 4 is a game where you explore a mysterious planet called Kairos. You can move through the world using new tools like grappling hooks, gliders, and double jumps. Each Vault Hunter comes with unique action skills that let you fight in your own style - whether it's unleashing a powerful strike, summoning support, or going stealth.
The new modular weapon system lets you build custom guns with special parts. You can play alone or with others in online or split-screen co-op, and everyone gets their own loot thanks to instanced rewards. There are new gear types, helpful drones, and even a machine to replay missions and boss fights. With these features, the game offers more action, freedom, and fun than ever.
First Steps
When you start Borderlands 4, you’ll choose one of four new Vault Hunters, each with unique skills. The opening mission teaches you how to move, fight, loot and use tools like grappling hooks and gliders. You’ll meet key characters, unlock your first safe zone, and begin early story missions. As you level up, you’ll gain skill points and customize your playstyle. The game gives you plenty of guidance, so it’s easy to jump into the action and start your adventure on the chaotic planet of Kairos.
New Mechanics and Weapons
Borderlands 4 is a true Looter Shooter, where finding cool gear is part of the fun. Now, weapons can mix different parts from manufacturers to create powerful hybrid guns. These are eight brands, including new ones like Order, Ripper, and Daedalus. Each one has its own style – some focus on speed, others on explosions or special ammo types. Legendary weapons are harder to find but much stronger, with cool effects like bouncing bullets or guns that turn into turrets. There’s also a flexible gear tagging system that lets you mark and switch between loadouts instantly – no need to dig through menus during combat. Together with deep Skill Trees for each character, these changes give you more ways to play your way and enjoy the action.
Story Summary
Set on the mysterious planet Kairos, Borderlands 4 throws you into a world ruled by the enigmatic Timekeeper, who manipulates minds using a sinister device known as the Bolt. You step into the boots of one of four new Vault Hunters - each with their own abilities and pasts - drawn into a desperate fight for freedom. As the Timekeeper’s grip tightens, you team up with an underground resistance, clash with corrupted machines and mutated horrors, and unearth powerful alien Vaults. Along the way, you’ll encounter quirky newcomers and old favourites from the Borderlands saga, all while uncovering the secrets behind the Timekeeper’s twisted plan.
