The Destiny franchise loves surprising its fans with new content. After the massive success of Destiny 2, released a few years ago, Bungie has introduced several new features and expansions that further deepen the fascinating Destiny universe. Here’s everything you need to know about Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy.

New Expansions to Explore
Game developers have announced two major expansions for the new Year of Prophecy saga. The first one, titled The Edge of Fate, will premiere on July 15. The second – Renegades – is set to launch in December. In addition, there will be two free seasons called Ash & Iron and Shadow & Order. First will be available in September this year, and the latter – March 2026.
All new updates and extras bring fresh storylines that expand the main gameplay, along with new locations, abilities, and campaigns for the popular FPS.
New Abilities
Destiny 2’s storyline is set in the future, in a post-apocalyptic world where the remaining survivors struggle to live on a damaged planet. In the upcoming expansion The Edge of Fate, the plot moves to an entirely new planet called Kepler. The new location is said to introduce fresh logic-based challenges, hiding many secrets and offering a mysterious, long-forgotten atmosphere.
Players will once again step into the role of Guardians, using their powerful skills to uncover hidden secrets.
Besides new locations, Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy introduces new abilities based on characteristic dark matter, and those are:
- Matter Spark - allows for rapid movement
- Mattermorph – lets you manipulate the environment to solve puzzles
- Relocator Cannon – enables short-distance transportation
New gears and raid
The new Destiny 2 saga gives players access to fresh equipment, including a new type of armor - Armor 3.0 - which offers special bonuses. It also introduces a new Rewards Pass system that allows players to unlock gear and upgrades as they progress through the game.
Besides that, Bungie has announced an entirely new raid designed for teams of up to six players. It will become available a few days after the launch of The Edge of Fate and is meant to test Guardians’ strength during challenging missions on Kepler. A new dungeon is also coming, closely tied to the campaign. This three-player activity will focus heavily on teamwork and coordination.

Key features:
- New expansions - The Edge of Fate and Renegades - expand the storyline with new locations and campaigns
- You can try out new abilities while exploring a brand-new location: the planet Kepler
- A new Rewards Pass system lets players unlock new types of gear and exotic weapons
- Fresh raid and dungeon content is closely tied to the campaign and encourages group cooperation
