F.E.A.R 3, also known as F3AR, is the third installment in a well-known FPS survival horror franchise. Developed by Day 1 Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2011, F.E.A.R 3 takes place nine months after the ending of F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin.

Welcome back to the Almaverse

FEAR 3’s storyline starts as Alma’s latest pregnancy is coming to an end. Once again a player follows the steps of the Point Man, one of Alma’s sons, who has to finally put an end to the horror his mother raised. With his hellish paranormal powers keeping him company, the Point Man has to decide whether to accept his once-dead brother’s, Paxton Fettel’s, help on his mission.

Depending on the character you’re playing as, various skills and weapons become available to be used against your enemies. Playing as the Point Man grants you reflex time, an ability to slow down the environment while the character himself acts at his normal speed. Paxton Fettel’s ability is possession, allowing the character to take control over his enemies and use their weapons as Fettel himself cannot do so in his regular form.

Both reflex time and possession can be improved by climbing up the ranking system based on completing various challenges such as finding collectibles, killing a certain number of enemies and so on. The challenges are divided into four different categories: aggressive, technical, aptitude and psychic. Become the best worst version of yourself!

Let’s fear together

FEAR 3’s campaign can be played in both single- and multiplayer modes. Solo players can play as the Point Man, with Paxton Fettel becoming available to play as they complete each level.

Multiplayer campaign can be played online as well as with a shared/split screen feature in offline mode. Additionally, co-op modes include: Soul King, Contractions, F**king Run! and Soul Survivor, with every mode focusing on different goals and usage of various skills such as possession ability or base building and defense.
