Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning (Kingdoms of Amalur 2) is a remastered single-player edition of the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Released by THQ Nordic in 2020, the refreshed version was developed by 38 Studios, Big Huge Games and KAIKO studio in cooperation with legends of the gaming industry, including Ken Rolston, a lead designer on TES III: Morrowind and TES V: Oblivion, Todd McFarlane responsible for creating “Spawn”, as well as Robert Salvatore - an author with an extraordinary mind who designed this marvelous universe of Amalur.

Story

The adventure takes place in the wonderful world of Amalur where the main plot can engage you from the very first minute of the game. The main character dies but is resurrected shortly thereafter by the Well of Souls, making him someone who can live outside any predetermined path of destiny. The player is immediately drawn into involving intrigues and conflicts between good and evil.

Gameplay

As befits a classic RPG, you can expect literally everything that the genre has to offer from this game. The character creation process allows you to choose a race and adjust the appearance settings, but in the beginning, you cannot get a class selection - you are the Fateless One after all. The development path will be clarified during the gameplay, and you can then acquire skills and weapons typical for one of three classes: warrior, mage and rogue. The history of the Amalur world is extremely extensive and goes back as much as 10,000 years, which allows you to learn many facts about the surrounding land during the game.

Although you have conversation options to choose from when talking to NPCs, the storyline of the game is quite linear, but the enormity of side quests and the exciting development of the main plot can certainly attract attention and serve lots of fun. In the game, you can meet with Quick Time Events that require reflexes and dexterity, because the combats in this game are pretty dynamic and fast.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning FATE Edition is a complete package containing entirely new content, which includes:

Reception

Kingdoms of Amalur remaster received mixed reviews, and it was probably because many players familiar with the original awaited more extensive content, in fact expecting a remake. Nevertheless, the remaster, unlike its predecessor, was released in a more convenient time, making it a successful title that found its way to the hearts of many fans of classic RPGs. Players who were familiar with the original particularly appreciate the additional harder level of the game, which is compared to the most difficult level of The Witcher 3 gameplay.
