Gameplay
Phantom Blade Zero focuses on fast, fluid melee combat in which precise timing and weapon mastery play an important role. Soul can use more than 30 primary weapons as well as over 20 Phantom Edges obtained throughout the adventure, and battles combine seamless combos with dodges, deflections, counters, and rapid attacks, allowing players to move naturally between offense and defense. Outside combat, players explore the mysterious Phantom World, searching for hidden passages, solving environmental mechanisms, and discovering secrets connected to its characters and history, with different routes and concealed areas encouraging players to look beyond the most obvious path. The studio has stressed that the game is a wuxia action RPG rather than a Soulslike, and early hands-on impressions single out the fluidity, rhythm, and satisfying challenge of its combat .

Story

Soul, a skilled warrior, is framed for the murder of his master and suffers a devastating wound to his heart. His life is temporarily saved, but he is left with only sixty-six days to live. Hunted and alone, Soul travels through the Wulin in search of the truth behind the conspiracy that has engulfed the martial world, fending off assassins and unraveling world-ending plots along the way. His journey takes him through a world shaped by revenge, loyalty, mystery, and conflicting personal motives as he searches for answers while his remaining time continues to run out .
Graphics
Phantom Blade Zero uses Unreal Engine 5 to create a dark and highly detailed interpretation of a wuxia-inspired world. Traditional Chinese architecture, martial arts imagery, and cold steel are mixed with mechanical prosthetics, ruined industrial structures, and fantasy elements to form the game's distinctive kungfupunk aesthetic, while motion capture and choreography developed with experienced martial arts professionals give combat a cinematic quality rooted in recognizable kungfu techniques. The PlayStation 5 version is enhanced for PS5 Pro, and the PC version requires an SSD, with recommended specifications pointing to an RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT class graphics card .
