Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a role-playing game for PC, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Versus Evil. The game is a sequel to original Pillars of Eternity and tells a completely new story set on the Deadfire archipelago. The gameplay features of the previous title make their return, but Deadfire introduces some new ones, such as traveling on a ship, building relationships with the player character's companions and more.

Classic RPG gameplay

PoE II's gameplay remains mostly unchanged in comparison to the first installment. The player once again controls the Watcher of Caed Nua in an open world environment. The action of Pillars of Eternity 2 is set on the Deadfire archipelago. The islands consist of various environments: cities, volcanic areas, etc., and can be explored on the player's ship, the Defiant. The ship can be upgraded and used in combat against other vessels roaming the waters around the islands. The player can also recruit new crewmembers.

Another new feature of Deadfire is building relationships with companions. The player's party consists of several members. Each of them can have a unique bond with the Watcher, developed throughout the course of the gameplay. The companions will also interact with each other.

Return to Eora with a new story

Eothas, the god renewal and light, was thought to be long gone. Now he returns, stronger than ever, in the form of a gigantic statue. His mere presence in the mortal plane. puts the fate of the world at stake. The Watcher of Caed Nua is tasked with hunting down the god and putting an end to his life, once and for all.
