Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive, in which a group of up to four survivors tries to escape from a nightmarish place where a supernaturally powerful killer tries to sacrifice them to a malevolent god. The game lets players take both sides of classic slasher movie stories and taste the dread of the survivors and the power of the killers. It is available on PC via Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, with full crossplay and cross-save support, and is also included with Xbox Game Pass Premium and PlayStation Plus Extra .

Gameplay
Playing as a survivor is tense and harrowing: to escape, you must repair generators while staying alert for the killer, who is faster and must be outmaneuvered with obstacles and last‑minute escapes from their grip or the sacrificial hook. Playing as the killer feels like being a brutal, unstoppable slasher, tracking victims by the sounds they make and using unique powers to close the distance or take them down. Each killer embodies a classic slasher trope, so finding one that fits your style is part of the fun, and on procedurally generated hunting grounds, neither side ever knows who will gain the upper hand.

Story

Dead by Daylight takes place in a nightmare realm ruled by the Entity, a malevolent force that pulls people from across time and place into an endless cycle of hunting and survival. Dwight Fairfield, Meg Thomas, Jake Park, Claudette Morel, and Nea Karlsson, the original survivors, were joined over the years by many more survivors and killers, each with their own backstory tied to a unique set of abilities. The roster has expanded through chapters, including the tenth anniversary chapter that brought Jason Voorhees into The Fog in May 2026, with every character feeding the Entity's sick game in their own way .
Graphics
Dead by Daylight presents a gritty, atmospheric horror aesthetic across locations that look like ordinary places twisted and warped into nightmares, from abandoned farmsteads and asylums to eerie forests wrapped in fog. Procedurally generated maps keep each trial visually and tactically fresh, while licensed killers and survivors bring their own recognizable looks into The Fog. PC offers the best graphics and frame rates, consoles like Xbox and PlayStation offer a solid experience, and Nintendo Switch trades some visual fidelity for portability .
