Dead by Daylight - Stranger Things Chapter is another expansion pack for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive. The DLC introduces two new survivors - Nancy Wheeler, a young but tough and brave journalist, and Steve Harrington, a former high-school sports star. Besides the new survivors, the expansions give players an opportunity to step into the role of Demogorgon - a terrifying monster from another dimension. Additionally, the DLC features the new map, Hawking's International Laboratory, as well as new unique perks, and cosmetic items.

Gameplay Mechanics

Dead by Daylight - Stranger Things Chapter doesn't change the main gameplay mechanics. The game is an asymmetrical multiplayer title, meaning that during the game opposing teams of players are not equal. In this case, four players join the team of Survivors, while the fifth player takes on the role of the Killer.

What is worth mentioning, the gameplay experience is completely different depending on whether you play as Survivor or the Killer. When you play as one of the Survivors, the action is presented from the third-person perspective, which makes you more aware of your surrounding. As the Killer, players observe the action from the first-person perspective. Each character of the game has some unique perks and abilities that will help them to fulfill their goals. Additionally, Survivors can equip themselves with useful items like medkits, tool cases, or flashlights (which can be used to temporarily blind the chasing them Killer).

Playing as one of the Survivors, we must locate and repair five generators, which will open the door allowing us to escape the Killers clutches. The task may seem easy at first, however, besides our fellow Survivors, there is also the Killer, whose goal is to find all the Survivors and sacrifice them in the name of the Entity. The Killer is much stronger than any of the Survivors and it usually takes just a few strikes for him to significantly injure his prey.

What's interesting, the Killer doesn't kill Survivors right away. If the Killer manages to hit his target it falls to the ground and starts bleeding out. Downed survivors can try their luck and crawl away from the danger. What makes the DbD (Dead by Daylight) gameplay so unique and unpredictable is the fact that maps are randomly generated making each match different. Additionally, Survivors don't know which of the Killers is trying to catch them until the first encounter with them.

Reception

The game received very positive feedback from both, players, and gaming reviewers. Most of the people appreciated unique gameplay mechanics, and significantly different gameplay experiences, depending on what characters you are playing. Additionally, many players applauded the huge involvement of the developers, who are constantly improving their project with frequent updates and new content.
