Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 lets you mix and match approaches to suit your playstyle: you can charge in with guns blazing, sneak around enemies and take them out with melee weapons, or hack vulnerable devices, and either way the combat is violent and satisfying. As a story-rich adventure, it lets you carve out your own position in Night City, arrange your own alliances, and find your own motivations, since V may be a deadly combatant or a dangerously smart hacker, but there is only so far one can go without allies. The city is huge, so car rides are often the best way to travel, although some districts are best explored on foot with weapons at hand. Update 2.5 adds a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree that enables dual-wielding pistols and revolvers, plus new side quests.

Story

V arrives in Night City looking for fortune, but the core idea is only the beginning: you pick V's backstory, the most important life event, and even the reason you came to the city, all of which influence the quests and content you encounter. On the streets you will meet and cross plenty of characters, from Johnny Silverhand, a rockerboy and one of your closest companions, to self-proclaimed lords of the underworld like Dexter Deshawn and staunch allies like the human tank Jackie Welles. It is up to you whom to trust, whom to double-cross, and whose betrayal to let slide, but there is always a bigger fish. The wider Cyberpunk universe now also lives on in Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 from Studio Trigger, a standalone two seasons story.
