EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 27 is the 37th installment in the Madden NFL series, developed by EA Orlando and published by EA Sports. It's the officially licensed NFL football game, covering Kick Off, Franchise, Superstar, and Ultimate Team modes, headlined this year by a new Persona Engine in Franchise mode.

Madden NFL 27 launches worldwide on August 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM UTC. Several early access windows precede the worldwide launch, starting as early as August 6 depending on edition.

Early access rolls out in stages: MVP+ Membership holders got seven days of early access starting August 6. Deluxe Edition and MVP Bundle purchasers get three days of early access from August 10 through August 12. Everyone else, including Standard Edition buyers, gets access at worldwide launch on August 13.

Madden NFL 27 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through the EA app, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is not available on PS4, Xbox One, or the original Nintendo Switch. A separate Arcade Edition, built specifically for the service, is also available on Apple Arcade starting August 6.

Cross-play is limited to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 players can play online, but only against other Switch 2 players, and cannot cross-play with PC, PlayStation, or Xbox users.

Madden NFL 27 is available in a Standard Edition (69.99 USD), a Deluxe Edition (99.99 USD), and an MVP Bundle (149.99 USD) that pairs Madden NFL 27 Deluxe with EA SPORTS College Football 27 Deluxe. A separate MVP+ Membership subscription, also priced at 149.99 USD per year, exists alongside these one-time purchase editions. Regional pricing may vary and applicable taxes apply.

The Deluxe Edition includes the base game plus three days of early access (August 10-12), 4,600 Madden Points, a Team Builder Ultimate Team Pack (choice of 1 of 32), an exclusive Early Access Solo Challenge, an 83 OVR BND Countdown Player (choice of 1 of 5), a Cover Athlete Elite Ultimate Team Player Item, 300 Franchise Points, one Superstar Legendary XP Boost, and one Ultimate Team Evo Item.

The MVP Bundle is a one-time purchase (149.99 USD) that bundles Madden NFL 27 Deluxe Edition with EA SPORTS College Football 27 Deluxe Edition, plus three days of early access and extra Ultimate Team and Dynasty content in both games. The MVP+ Membership is a separate, ongoing 12-month subscription, also priced at 149.99 USD per year, that includes the same Deluxe content in both games but adds seven-day early access, monthly Ultimate Team packs, beta access, and other members-only rewards delivered throughout the year. The Bundle is a single purchase; the Membership renews annually.

No. MVP+ Membership sign-ups were only open from June 4 through July 2, 2026, and are closed as of this writing. Players who missed that window can still purchase the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, or MVP Bundle, none of which require an ongoing subscription. MVP+ Membership is also limited to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the United States and Canada only, when open.

The Persona Engine gives every NFL athlete a distinct personality, built from 65 personality types, that shapes how they think, negotiate, and react to decisions across a Franchise. EA describes it as the biggest change the studio has made to player behavior, contract negotiations, weekly management, news, and free agency in the series' history, with features like realistic holdouts and trade demands.

Timing-Based Catching is an optional, skill-based mechanic that gives players more direct control over contested catches during the passing game, adding an added layer of precision for players who want it rather than replacing the standard catch system entirely.

Superstar mode has been rebuilt into an expanded "G.O.A.T. Career Journey," following a player from their earliest snaps through a full professional career and into the Hall of Fame. It adds deeper skill trees, new playable positions, and more meaningful career choices as a player's legacy develops.

Minimum PC requirements call for Windows 11, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i3-10300 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and a GPU on the level of an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, or Intel Arc A580, with 50 GB of storage. Recommended specs call for an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a GPU on the level of an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, or Intel Arc B580. DirectX 12 compatibility and a broadband connection are required either way, and EA recommends an SSD.
