Gameplay

Planet Zoo 2 combines creative construction with detailed management and animal care. Players design habitats suited to individual species, provide food and enrichment, maintain animal welfare, and observe behaviours such as herding, grazing, swimming, and flying. Aquariums can be created for aquatic species, while customisable aviaries give birds enough space to move both on the ground and through the air.

Running a successful zoo also requires attention to its visitors and economy. Players can construct shops, amenities, educational areas, paths, scenery, and other facilities while balancing income and expansion. A flexible building system supports both ready-made blueprints and detailed piece-by-piece construction, while terrain, foliage, colour, and scaling tools provide additional control over each zoo's appearance.

Story

Planet Zoo 2 focuses on management and conservation rather than a traditional linear story. In Career mode, players join the Fauna and Ecosystems Network, known as FEN, and travel around the world while developing a network of zoos and Wildlife Reserves. Conservation projects extend beyond zoo boundaries, challenging players to meet specific requirements before releasing animals into customised reserves and restored ecosystems.

Planet Zoo 2 presents animals and environments with a strong focus on natural detail and realistic animation. Species feature expressive movement and behaviour, while zoos can be built across different biomes using scenery inspired by architecture from around the world.
